Hi,
I'm looking at getting some of the usual things for my car......suspension, brakes, wheels, etc, and I was wondering if anyone has ever bought similar items from Ebay Motors. I'm looking at all these items which you'd normally see for hundreds of dollars, yet they sell for $30-80.
Things like a complete set of coilovers for $30, computer chips, strut bars, body kits, fenders, bolt-on items, etc
You name it, it's on Ebay for super cheap. Whats the deal, are any of these items of any quality, or are they cheap knockoffs? Or is it just stiff competition that drives the prices down?
If i'm looking for an average set of coilovers, would it be worth it to take a chance with something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7948133892&category=33582
Thanks for any advice

^pends on who you buy it from. always try to get highest seller rating, and someone with a solid reputation. make sure you get a good idea of what you're buying, and any differences that it may have from a brand new product. i think ebay, overall, is a good alternative to paying full price.

I accually just recieved a K&N air filter for my bike that I bought from Ebay Motors. My advice would be this...
 make SURE you KNOW WHAT YOU"RE BUYING!
these coilovers look like cheap copies to me, if something's cheap
THERE"S A REASON!!
just analyze things... "JDM 93 94 95 96 97 DEL SOL COILOVER SPRINGS SPRING SET" JDM means it hails from japan. thats about it. it tells you nothing of who makes the part. if you're not worried about it performing to a certain level, then buy'em. but, if you're looking for the good stuff, you're gonna be spending some money. you get what you pay for, so just make sure you read EVERYTHING and KNOW WHAT YOU"RE GETTING!

^^^theres some good advice.
Read the auction very carefully, seriously. Now that link to suspension, its just for coil over springs, they are all missing the struts that go in them  ....so thats a reason why there so cheap,

Thanks for the replies.
I've been looking on ebay motors for some time now trying to get an idea what stuff is decent and what is crap.
I don't intend to race my car so extreme performance is not the goal, I just want some minor upgrades, yet stuff that will be reliable and perform AT LEAST the same as the stock original parts.
The coilovers were just an example, i mean theres brake rotors, strut braces, hoods, camber kits, etc......its crazy. Hard to tell exactly where the stuff is made unless it had the brandname, but even then, how can you tell if the brandname is the real thing!!
Heck, the shipping on the bigger items is sometimes 2-3 times the price of the part!

yeah like the other guys have been saying, do some serious research in nitpicking the details. also, try to only buy from power sellers

^^ Not neccesarily, if you find a sellar who is just desparate to sell quickly (hence its on Ebay) or has aquired the part somehow and doesnt actually know what he's sat on then you can get some right steals!!!
Me and my mate bought an E30 325i sport (needs minor work to get it road worthy) for £500! The sellar wanted over £800 but he'd been messed around by buyers before so he was just happy to get a genuine buyer in us, and we got it cheap! :D
But, if there are lots of the same new part on Ebay for cheap then they are usually cheap copies or nicked!

^^^^No Way, if you put those things on your car, you could end up paying way more than $35 to correct the situation. Hold out for something you know to be quality.
There's a reason that nobody else bought them either!

^^^Oh shit, good call. I guess I don't usually look at the date it was posted. I just look at the topic and conversation.
However, you're totally right! Really old news here.
