Well...looks like Ford pussed out on the best-looking and best-performing hot hatch it would've had in quite a long time. Probably would've been on par with the 1st gen. Focus RS.

Assholes. That's what happen when you allow accountants to run a car company.

Well I don't find this news particularly shocking for one of two reasons;
1) The new fiesta ST has been panned by critics and so a more expensive fiesta with a similar chassis is hardly likely to be a massive success
2) They are still going ahead with it and they have just announced this to try and give the ST some shelf life before everybody waits for the RS.

Sad news. I was planning to consider the Fiesta RS as a purchase upon my return to the UK. Not now by the looks of it. I hope AMAndy is right with reason 2, above

it probably would had been a pretty good car but i agree i dont think the market for that car would be that great outside of the UK..its quite pricy for a fiesta at the end of the day...

Jesus christ...the bastards...
I'm pretty much disappointed as well...This would be an absolute hammer considering the info insiders have provided (230bhp+).

I was reading the test of the Fiesta RS yesterday in this month's issue of Top Gear Magazine. It won the "Car of the Month"...
Is the car that was cancelled, the same one in the magazine ??

It is a shame indeed, i think it would have sold, but they are quite small inside. Would have been bloody rapid tho!!

Is it a proper road test? I doubt it. It has to be an evaluation of the concept....?

oh sorry, the review was for the Ford Fiesta ST. It had some info on the RS though. They said the RS was practically hand-built and Ford was not making any money. That's probably why they cancelled the car.

Not til April 06 lol. As for where, depends who's paying the biggest bucks, and where I can afford to buy a house at silly UK prices. I hear Templecombe is a nice place to live :wink:

It's a shame they cancelled it. As hot hatches go, that was looking pretty promising

Templecombe is indeed a nice place to live! I wouldnt worry bout the house prices, that bubble's gunna burst within 05 for sure, it simply cant go on like it is at the moment! Then everything with respect to housing (unfortunately including our family buisness) is gunna go to shit, as with the last housing crash. Hopefully it will be a gradual decline this time!
I think house prices in the south west will continue to rise regardless, as its now becoming one of the 'places to be' for the buisness types in the city when the want to get away at the weekends! I can vouch for this, the number of SL55's, DB7's, other big mercs, M3's and porsches ive follwed down the M3 and A303 when ive been on my way back on a friday night!
Sorry for thread jack! :oops:
That's a pity, but didn't they test it lately with top gear?
