View Full Version : Computer Rice, What Do You Think About It

I say its as ghey as you can get.
Its ok to put on one cold cathode light maybe to see the guts if your browsing at night and have a tons of fans or a heavy heatsink like me to see if they are still spinning and if the HS didnt fall off and crushed the computer. And no I have no lights on my rig. Only lights I get is from the display on my fan controller.
What is up with these people putting some low end fans with tons of lights that dont actually move any air...and wires that reflect light or whatever....and graffics....
I mean look at this

So much hate you got today Alex.....
Guess what caused it? The fact that on my day off, on a sunday! I turn on the TV and a show about about 4 guys who dont know shit about cars, rice out a perfectly good stock nissan. They put stickers and rims on it and tried to say that its a PIMPED OUT oh so fast ride....not a pleasent site at 11 in the morning...so that kind of spoiled my day.

I suppose having a few lights in the PC is OK. But I'd certainly rather invest in better hardware than tacky luminescent stuff or extravagant cases.
The 3rd one is killer :D

haha that first one is pretty ridiculous. I don't really have any problem with people doing it though, since I don't really have to see it on the road every day. Of course my respect for those people will drop dramatically if they ever do something like that to their computers, but I say to each his own.

1st one is defintiely ridiculous
2nd looks quite tastefully done (still not my cup of tea though)

[ i might go with acrylic with my next pc. but i would of not used any red.
HAHA You should see my PC inside. Its beautiful, but my case doesnt have a window...Its so neat inside. No big IDE cable, SATA harddrive and black rounded cable for the dvd drives. A nice red pcb motherboard and a grafics card to match, and a nice big heat sink, along with memory that has blue matt heat spreaders......

lol, u argue that "riced out PC's" are "ghey" then you buy a red motherboard for no other apparent reason other than its red, otherwise you might care to mention what spec/model etc. N then you've got a case with "lots of fans" in it. If it's not built specifically with "lots of fans" in mind, then you might as well just stick one fan in it as they'll be no airflow as looks to be the case (pardon the pun) with yours.
I have no problem with people modding PC's - whether they look good or not is all personal preference. I have a problem with people being hypocrtical though :P;)

SFD, what kind'a memory are you running? And what voltage & frequency?
IM running some shitty single sided samsungs I think, 3200s with horrible timings 2.5 4 4 8 and stock voltage currently at 380mhz dual chanel... :|
I might pickup two sticks of some decent OCZ 3200s but I dont feel the need for it now to be honest.

SOrry mate but are you reading or doing something else? Get your hand of your crotch.
My motherboard is red because it only comes in red, except for the platinum series. And as you can see from the picture of the case YOU CANT SEE THE MOTHERBOARD
Who the fuck said that I bought the motherboard just because its red? Get your head out of your ass. Ill spell it for you: I was pointing at the fact that I have some attratctive looking hardware which others would show off, but here I am a crazy hypocrite who keeps it all under wraps. I bought the motherboard two months after it came out, its an MSI 865PE Neo 2 LS, one of the best performing boards with the 865 chipset. The best over clocking board that I came accross.
There are two intake fans. One fan blowing directly over the harddrive because my SATA maxtor gets very hot at times.
Then there is a second intake fan that simply blows in cool air from the outside.
Then there are two exhaust fans right at the back of the case.
http://www.antec-inc.com/images/400/backside/sx1000ii.jpg
Then there are two 55mm fans blowing on the video card.
Then there is a fan on the north bridge.
And its all neatly tucked away in a plain white case were you cant actually see any of it...
So why the fuck are you calling me a hypocrite?
Jeeezzz mate, I thought you were smarter then that.

I did. You still dont get it.
Here we go again.
My red boards, big copper/aluminum heatsink that runs almost 10C lower temperatures then the stock intel HS, the blue aluminum heat spreads, that simply come in blue, the fan controller, are things that most ricers would brag about. Oh look at my big red motherboard(Im going to waist a shit load of money so I can put some plexi glass in my case to show it off) , doesnt it look fast? Oh look at my blue heat spreads, doesnt blue match the red...
Even though I have that stuff I dont show it off. You cant see any of it. Thats the point, I dont know why you still dont get it by this point.

Well thats what you sounded like you were saying in your post....
If it was sarcastic then i apologise ;)
What's wrong with showing what you've got off? 90% of the time, you're the only one that will be in view of it.... assuming its in your house - so it'll be for your pleasure more than anything else.... much more exciting than a white plain case anyway :P But if thats what you want, who am i to comment? ;)

Its cool, I should have made it more clear.
WHy dont I show it off???
I just like things to have a clean look. Plus my mobo has a very ghey fan with flashy lights on it, there is no way to turn it off either.

SFD, what memory and what timings & voltage are you running?
Actually I already replied to that
My memory is either infineon or samsung. Im 90% sure its Infenion. I dont remember correctly because at first I picked up a single stick of 512 when I first build the computer, then I picked up 2x 256s sticks wich Im are infineon, Im pretty sure they are. They are 3200s.
Voltage is 2.5V and timings are 2.5, 4 ,4 8

Then YOU are the riceboy SFD ;)
No shit, you really are :p You have memory heatspreaders on it, they are completely useless, unless you put more then 3v on the memory and run fsb's and timings that make it go crazy ;)
And most of the modules only isolate the heat of the memory, they don't cool it off.
And I can tell you, that memory running at those timings doesn't get really warm. They do get hot, about 45-50°C running 3.4v on 290mhz c2.5-11-3-3. That was some OCZ we had for reviewing purposes ;)
That just like all the hoodscoops you see on cars with stock engines ;)
RICEBOY LOL!!   twisted:
OWNED :D
I knew I had a slight chance in catching you on that point ;)
Ok there buddy. Come here and touch the heat spreaders. They are hot. Only reason I bought them was to actually see if they can pull any heat off the chips, and they actually do...And my fsb is at 297
http://www.is-mad.com/upload/userfiles/SFDMALEX/cpuz.jpg
. If you want Ill stick a heat sensor on the ram just for you, and tell you what numbers I get.
So relax and keep the riceboy comments to your self
Lastly...you cant even see the heat spreaders

Of course they do get hot , they are heat spreaders , it will take all the hot and put it into surface , not that your memories are hot and are going to die , its nos necessary , try overvolting em and get some better timings .

I did, took them up to 3v(another reason why I bought the heat spreaders) but it would not even show the post screen with higher timings.
