hi jabba community!

first of all please excuse my english, it is not my mothertongue and
i will try to keep my posts as proper and accurate as possible.

before i start to post comments and opinions i wanted to introduce
my self real quick!

my nickname is my realname ;-) i'm based in zurich/switzerland but
currently i'm living in paris/france. i'm on assignment here until 2007.
i'm married and daddy of two lovely kid's (28 & 8 months).

i work for one of the largest IT companies as a financial analys/
controller.

in my spare time (and if i say spare - i mean spear time) i enjoy some
awesome ride's with my alfa romeos to the swiss mountains or now
x-ing paris downtown....

this is my next point: ALFA ROMEO - 'the' make for me, although i
love cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati etc. at the end of the day
i always would choose an ALFA ROMEO over them....i know sounds
crazy - but it's true - and, stupid enough, can't tell you why...i also
used to be the vice president of the AROC cuoresportivo.ch, so if you
have specific questions about this brand do not hesitate to pm me.

i do have 3 alfa romeos and 1 family car as following:

Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 America (good old transaxle), 1988
Alfa Romeo 166 3.0 V6 America (definition of style), 2001
Alfa Romeo GTV V6 turbo (nicest affordable sportscar), 2000
Renault Grand Espace 3.0 V6 Dci (Diesel, familyvan), 2004

i will present the 75 (wrapped in plastic to prevent it from rust)
later in spring.

the renault and GTV are here in paris, more infos below. and my
sister just submitted the ownership proof from zurich!

ahhh a man after my own heart, alfa's everywhere :D

unfortunately I can't let you have that 166 and 75 in the topic without some kind of proof, so I have edited them out until you get some as I dont want to close the topic with 2 verified cars in it ;)

and yes the alfa V6 is a fantastic engine, one of these days I will have to get more verified pics of my little 'collection' but until then I will STFU

hi all, tx for the flowers, no problem danV6, thought the same licence plates
are proof enought - will try to contact my sister in zurich for some shots
of the documents/keys.

nevertheless, i also have some awesome videos (where to post?)- passing a
tunnel for instance, all my alfas are tuned with rims, lowered suspensions & sport
exhausts.

the rims on the GTV are from ZENDER, called SIENA. the side skirts and the
front spoiler is also from ZENDER and was 'standard' for the 3.0 V6 GTV cup
model in 2002.

cheers,
iwan

Welcome aboard :) and here is another Swiss member :)

Just out of curiosity, had any problem with the Espace? My mom got one and my uncle too, the very first ones arriving here and both had many problems already, especially my mom's (wich is the 2.2 diesel while uncles is a V6 like yours)

hi all, tx for the flowers, no problem danV6, thought the same licence plates

well they might have been if I could actually read them in the pics ;) although TBH I dont know how plates work in your country

TT
01-09-2005, 09:29 AM
Well basically most ppl keep the same plates all life long, but it's not mandatory, so not really a final proof ;)

Welcome to JW. It's great that you got the custom shots too... not everybody reads the rules

A very sexy GTV 8) And a pretty cool Espace too :D

Have you got any high-res pics of the GTV :?:

You've got a very nice GTV. :!:

What can I say, you have a very nice car collection, especially with the Alfa 75 and GTV. Your GTV is one of the sexiest GTV's I've ever seen. It has a great colour combination with that lovely blue on the outside and the black/beige interior. The rims and nice body styling makes it complete. A very nice car ;)

mv
01-09-2005, 12:12 PM
wow the GTV looks hot...A pretty good choice...I would consider some tweaks as the engine has lots of potential for sure.

01-09-2005, 03:24 PM
My favourite car out of your lineup would have to be the 166. With that V6 it has to be a seriously fast and athletic sedan.

Welcome aboard. You'll fit right in :D

OK, some answers to your questions.....

@TT
no problems at all with the renault, but i have to admit that this is my
first renault ever and the current mileage stays at about 5,000..... but
as far as i can say sofar: 'just a great car with massive power'

btw. do you have some tipps regarding foto locations (maybe in paris) and
foto in general? i'm looking for some awesome spot's where i can take
good pictures of my car.

@bmwpower
yes, it's a turbo, the same engine was used in the 164 & 166, Spider and the GTV,
here some datas.....

202 hp, 2 litre V6 turbo
max torque @ 2400 rpm's - 281 NM
0 - 100 km/h 7.2 sec
Vmax 245 km/h (aerodynamic version)

@thenumber1
yes, i do have some hi-res pictures and i will post them togehter with
the pictures of the currently 'unproofed' cars.

@MV
tweaks? what exactly do you mean, chiptuning? or 'stronger' modifications?
suggestions?

@ferrarif1an89
you're mentioning the 156 GTA in your signature - as far as i know this car
was never exported to the US  :?: btw, a lovely car, a friend of mine
has one but sold it recently (bought a 166).

Welcome to JW, Iwan! Thanks for reading and complying to the rules before posting.

Very nice cars you have. I love the GTV as much today as when it was launched. The colour combination on your car is beautiful! Please provide the custom pics for the 75 and 166 as soon as possible, so I can see those cars as well.

those are some truly beatiful cars you have Iwan! thankyou for sharing with us :)

i'll be the first to admit that i dont know much about alfa's.

i wish they were more prevalent in the U.S. as they seem to be able to suite many needs on the road.

You are lucky ;) my mom's went back to the garage already 15 to 20 times and after the first 3 times they had to take back the car and order a new one since it was impossible to find out were the problems were. The second one still has some fault like the clutch pedal that stays every now and then buried into the floor and need to be raised with your left foot :?

As for photo locations, for Paris I am not maybe the right person since I went there just once lately. For sure a pic near the Tour Eiffel would be terrific, but pretty hard even at night. Would be great also a moving pic around the Arc du Triomphe, but that roundabout is always crowded... Place Vendôme? Or maybe just wait 4 or 5 in the morning and put the car sideway in the middle of the Champs Elisés :D

Hello Iwan! You have very nice Alfas! :)
Can you please give us some photos about the 75 America?

I had an America as well :) Now I drive a 155.

Attie
01-12-2005, 05:10 AM
yes, it's a turbo, the same engine was used in the 164 & 166, Spider and the GTV,

Errr.. As I know the Spider didn't get the V6 TB engine. Only 1.8 TS, 2.0 TS an 3.0 V6. After the face lift 3.2 V6

Iwan
01-12-2005, 05:35 AM
hi attie,

well, the spider was produced with the V6 TB engine, but only for italy and france.
i do have 75 pictures, but for the moment i can not proof ownership, the car is
back home in zurich and wrapped in plastic to prevent this 17 year old machine
from any kind of rust and dust ;-)

this car is shown in the 'das grosse alfa romeo 75 buch' book on page
181 & 182.

:D lovely machines, you have a fellow Alfisti's respect.

I like your 'ideal' garage aswell. I want another Alfa but I really can't afford this one right now :) Too bad (for my bank account) its staying :).

Your 75 looks familiar, I'll assume it was on Cuore Sportivo?

Iwan
01-31-2005, 06:22 AM
hi mezevenf,

tx, yep it's is on CuoreSportivo as the 166 and GTV too ;-) renato

alfa romeos.

keyboard)......anyway...freaking avatar - well done ;-) still have a 3.0 V6, but
24v for you to pick up and get planted into your GTV6....ehehehh....take care!

Great pics Iwan!!

I must also compliment you on the choice of your cars.

A real carfreaks choice!! If I would ever have that many cars in my garage I would feel damn proud. Especially with all those beautifull alfa's. (must cost a shitload to insure)

May I however give a little remark... you know what's missing, the new Alfa GT. All of the Alfa's in your garage are very good looking but the GT is just perfect IMO!

Iwan
02-08-2005, 08:38 AM
tx to all....

well 1zippo1, this might be your opinion, personally i'm more into the 916 GTV
but....who knows....maybe one day, i will trade in all the cars for a BRERA?
personally i consider the GT a little to soft and 'femalish' but maybe i'm wrong...

in switzerland it is not so expensive to have two or more cars. as mentioned
somewhere before, you can register 2 cars on one numberplate...so, you pay
taxes and insurance for the higher 'valued' car only.....

tx to all....
cheers

cu,

tis no longer in my sig, but my uncle owns one in britain. i love that car, and i really wish they sold them here. i learned to drive in a 1988 alfa spider. i still have that car, but it is in really bad shape. i intend on restoring it, but parts are hard to find in U.S. IMO, alfas are sexier than ferraris. i dunno y, but i guess its because they are more exclusive in the states than ferraris, and they are drop-dead gorgeous!

**EDIT** btw, iwan, that 166 is incredible. i want one. i want one now.

I wish people in Australia would give that kind of regard to Alfa, very under-appreciated by most Australians. My friends give me shit all the time for having "a shit car" and tell me to buy something better with my money (*cough*180SX*cough*). No thanks.

As for Alfa parts being rare in the states, not exactly :).

http://www.international-auto.com/ That's a great place to start looking for parts, and there are more US based alfa parts places.
