idiot question

why can't i get the sound to play in any media on my computer? the things are plugged in, the speakers are turned on, the mute's not on, aaaand i still can't hear shit. i went to control panel and all the audio stuff is on and turned up, still nothing. what the hell did i do?

Did the sound work before, if you recently formatted and reinstalled windows you might have forgotten the audio drivers. :silly:

For some crappy integrated sound cards you need to have their own software installed like AV Rack for the sound to work.

Does sound not come anywhere ? even in the control panel sound thingy.

You've probably done this but check what device is your default for playing sound (control panel)...

plugged into the right plug? you sure all the devices aren't muted (instead of just the main one)?

everything was working fine last night then today idunno what went wrong?

nevermind i figured it out. went to control panel and found out the device default volume was all the way down. dunno how it got like that, but i'm gonna go beat myself up for being an idiot. cheers :mrgreen:
