Hey guys, any help much appreciated:

Just bought with my mate a pretty beaten around D-reg BMW E30 325i sport for a track car and general laff (£500).

We bought it off ebay, and for the money i think you cant beat it for fun! However as it was one of the really early ones, its got a manual steering rack (fuckin 4.4 turns lock to lock) so drifting isnt so much difficult as physically impossible!! Believe me ive been trying.
So i need to retro fit a power steering pump from a later 325i and then i want to get a power steering rack from an E36 M3 and retro fit that too. I have found a website showing the fitting of the E36 rack to an E30 M3, but i have not found any info on the fitment of a power steering pump to an early beemer like mine.
Any fellow E30 owners, or beemer enthusiasts who could point me in the direction of some helpfull websites would be great!!

Heres that website: http://www.e30m3performance.com/installs/installs-3/e36rack/
And the company who did the kit: http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/store/shop.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=6134&Product_Code=E30SRC

Cheers guys :D .

Oh and b4 anyone asks, its not in the registry as its kept at me mates house, and the only time ive had chance to drive it over christmas was in the dark so no pics of the car with proof of ownership.

EDIT: Heres the rubber lines, not too good a photo, and a pic from ebay b4 we bought it. Wont be gettin any others till i get back to home for easter.

Oh, and i had an absolute nitemare with the collection of the car, i posted it on another topic on JW but i dont htink anyone saw it, i'll try and find it, its quite amusing (for those who are not involved!)

Heres the story:

I had a bit of a nitemare buying a car a few weeks ago, went to look at a £500 E30 Beemer 325i sport me and me mate had bought off ebay, everything fine, car drove as youd expect, about to hand over cash and i break the only key in the door lock.
Next 3 hours spent, removing door lock barrel, beeting the shit out of it, gettin piece of key out, and forcing it into the ignition, to start the fucking thing!!!
Damn it.
Only just got the key piece out of the ignition barrel the other day, got a key cutter to do another, could just about from the broken key. So now hte ignition works, but we are still minus a door lock, and the key that now works in the ignition doesnt open the passenger door or boot!!?
Oh, and to make matters worse, when we were doing some rolling burnouts in hte quite hills (the quantocks) and we are turning round in a gateway a car comes along, so he ets us out. Me mate boots it, a bit sideways, then the guy starts tailgating us!? I see its a focus, (it was pitch black out so only headlights visable) so we cant understand who it is, so pull into his driveway, he follows, and puts the blues and twos on!!!!!!!! FUCK POLICE uh oh.
No MOT on it, oh shit, rubber marks all the way up the road, and some nice donught rings just outside hte drive!!! OH FUCK!
So me mate gets a little talking too by the copper, but he was a reasonable chap, he thought we'd nicked it but we said we'd just got it working and were testing it quitely!
So he looks up the registered owner of the car, and its still in the old blokes name!!! Oh shit, then he calls in on me mates name, and theres a guy matching his description wanted!!!!!!!!! Luckily in nottingham, so other end of england.
But fuck me, i think this car is bad luck! Good fun tho!

I dont fully understand your post, but the engine and box are sound, the clutch is good, its an older car, so it was cheap, but i want to fit a power steering rack to it, and a new E36 rack, due to the E30 power steering rack still being 4 turns lock to lock. IE ridiculously slow for drifting.

U being pissy? Cus wats the point in relplying, i think its a fuckin good car for £500, the seller wanted £800 least, but we were the max bid at £510.

coombsie66 - don't mean to hijack your thread, but did the car come w/ side blinkers on the fenders? Or did you retrofit those?

Is there a site/walkthrough for the job?

Thanks.

Um, we've had this car only for a few months, and done absolutely nothing to it other than mistreat its rear tyres!
Nothing on our car looks to be different from all UK E30 325i sports with the M-Tech kit.
Sorry i cant be of any more help mate.

Coombsie, no problem. I just brough an E30 1990 325i in the US. Thought that it would be an nice addition (safety) to have side markers on it like my E36.

Thanks!!!

Ah cool! Could you tell me, does your car have power steering? If so is it easy to turn the steering wheel when you are stopped? Mine is manual steering, and its annoying as its 1. stupidly stiff, and 2. a 4.4 turns lock to lock so bloody slow!
If you have power steering do you think you could take a few pics of the engine bay when you get chance, in particular the steering rack, lines and power steering resivoir.
Cheers :)

Yeah, my car has power steering. I gotta borrow a digital camera from someone. I'll see if I could do it sometime during the day, since it gets dark here soon. . . probably next weekend.

@bmwpower - we live in east block coutries, dealerships can name higher price and people buy it anyway cause we dont have so many of those cars as they do. Just look in Germany - http://www.autoscout24.de/home/index/list.asp?sort=price&make=13&model=1644&eurofrom=0&euroto=0&hpfrom=0&hpto=0&yearfrom=0&yearto=0&radius=0&zip=PLZ&hasimage=1&allcountries=&carsperpage=30&country=&Submit1=Suche+starten if you search for 318 or 320 there are lots and lots of them for 250-1000€

Sorry coombsie66 for going offtopic  BTW great story some serios unluck here. I hope it vanish. I love E30's (who'd say ) great choice for a fun car.
