Sure is a waste :( I think the lesson to be learnt here is dont try skidding your car on a frozen lake if your not sure the ice cant take the weight. At least it got a good clean.
Joking aside it is a shame :(

holly shit.....feel bad for the car.
This happend two years ago if i`m not wrong. It was the first new impreza here in Estonia.Car was two weeks or two days old and the owner wanted to have some fun on ice but ice as you can see was weak and so the car drowned.BTW-the car was running two week after that.
what a moron.skidding on ice is one danger in itself but skidding a car on ice that is covering a lake.......you just know that wouldnt end nicely,IMO that guy got what he deserved for bein so stupid

wow, that would be considered a bad day in my books!!
It seems to me that you have never driven on frozen lakes,it`s not dangerous at all if you have nice thick ice.It is very popuar, many events are held on lakes. But in this case the ice was just too thin.

Thanks for the pics!
I live in Sydney so no I've never driven on a frozen lake. I remember in Canada (where I'm from) that the rivers had all pick-up trucks at the bottom of the rivers
What are the signs that a river is safe to drive on? Temperture, time of season but how can you tell?

Thats good to hear!!! It make sense, if it was saltwater it be a instant right off, but if he thoughtly cleaned it it should run ok but the interior would stink!
Thanks for the comments guys :)

I bet the water didn't do to much damage to a new engine but the interrior and electronics must be fucked

its a shame. but i bet it was running fairly soon afterwards. Top Gear proved cars can survive water, with their Toyota. lmao.

That's a very old pic, saw that on i-club or NASIOC a year ago. But still find it very sad to see ppl driving so stupidly.....why wanna drive on a lake? An empty parking lot will do the same job

Lake 1 Subaru 0
What can i say :? There are certainly other places to play
with the subaru and not end up like this!!!
In USA you may have parkinglots as big as estonia,so you can have fun there, but we have frozen lakes(and i`m quite sure it`s more fun on lake because if you have balls you can drive even 200kph).Imprezas are ment to be driven hard and so they should be driven on lakes.Even in swedish rally, some ss are held on lakes.
