I haven't seen The Rise Of Evil, but judging by the reviews it can never beat Der Untergang. If you haven't already, go see Der Untergang! Apart from a few minor details, the movie portrays the actual last ten days of Hitler's life. The actor Bruno Ganz's appearance and acting looks like a frighteningly close match to Hitler, according to people who knew Hitler during his life.

everyone knows what happend during ww2 but it is shocking everytime you see something of it. had the same situation in theatre after the movie was over. most of the visitors stayed in their seats without saying a word, very strange situation.
have to check if i can find the rise of evil

Here in the Netherlands the movie is in its last weeks at the cinemas, so it will probably take about three months for it to be available for rental. Maybe you will be able to rent it in your country around that time as well.
But, downloading is also a possibility of course.
Der Untergang is told much from the perspective of the same secretary in the documentary, Traudl Junge. The events in the movie, however, are historically as accurate as possible though. It's largely based on the book by Joachim Fest. On certain facts, like Hitler's suicide, there are different theories about the precise circumstances, so the movie does not show the suicide itself. Only the ending where Junge wanders off with the boy is not a historical fact, but the rest is accounted for.
I'll say it again, you HAVE to see this movie!

If you want to have the best documentary about Hitler, from his starts to his death, then search for "Hitler - Eine Karriere" in eMule. There are two versions, a 1 cd and a 2 CD version. I got the 2 CD one and its very good quality. It is German though as you might guess from the title, but it´s 155min long and awesome. It tries to explain the relation between Hitler and the German people.

Ive seen both, ever since I was little I always was interested in the 2nd WW, and every time Hitler is on TV I watch it, no I am not some sort of neo-nazi :)
I am just interested in him, don't know why actually, but I have seen Der Untergang and the Rise Of Evil and I have to say that that english actor that plays Hitler did such a good job of playing Hitler that I enjoyed watching and learning it
I say this because I am one of those people that rather want to see it and learn about it so it can never happen again, then somebody who aggrevates somebody for watching it and keep saying: '' How can you watch that, didn't you know what happened etc. etc'' :|
I say that we can rather learn from it then keep avoiding it, who agrees :)

Or was it three?
Anyway I will watch it but he was a fucking sick bastard. What he did to Ukranians and Jews was just fucking sick. The guy was tottaly mental. Everytime I see his face its just disturbing, how such evil can come from men.

does it come on again? :?:
BTW if it says Hitlers gay then its accurate heh
I just watched the first part of the CBS's movie Hitler: The Rise of Evil. Have to say it was very interesting, though I don't know how accurate it is, is it just slightly documental? Robert Garlyle is frighteningly looking like Hitler with mustache and hair.
I'm happy they speak english, because there are no subtitling, but Hitler's speech doesn't sound that powerfull in english.
Any of you seen the film? What do you think?
well dude everything sounds more profilfic, more interesting in german. especially when yelled.

I saw der Untergang a couple of weeks ago. And it's idd a good but special movie. After the movie finished, it was almost complete silence in the cinema theatre, really freaky!

I haven't seen that documentary, but i've seen the clips where hitler gives some of his speeches. even w/ english translations, his gesticulations and emotional fervor that he puts into his speeches really is quite incredible - the way that a single man manipulated the minds of so many people is remarkable. i would guess some of that special mojo was lost in translation.

^^^Der Untergang is not a documentary, it's a movie. But the events are historically very accurate. The movie is about the last ten days of Hitler's life, so you won't see the same images of him that you described above. All you see is a sick madman with an enormous drive for destruction, a shadow of his former self.
I highly recommend this movie! Judging by the flyer displayed on IMDb, it seems to me Der Untergang will soon be on your side of the Atlantic as well.
