View Full Version : F1 pilots use cocaine

An ex-medic of Ferrari affirms to Quattroruote that coacine is highly used by pilots in F1. Though tests to champions of the F1 havent gotten a positive test.
At least one third of the actual pilots use the drug as an stimulant prior to races.
For around 90 minutes the effects of cocaine are reducing reaction times and giving the consumers the sensation of invincibility, but if races lasted more it could turn dangerous.

I dont believe it - the g forces and the other exertions that they endure would make them collapse afterwards if they took cocaine.
I am thinking that this is just some slow week in the F1 news dept and they are regurgitating anything to get headlines

Slow reactions is not something you want in a race lol  Maybe Juan Pablo does not the rest.
Ever seen Schumaher on the podium, no way does he look like he's high on coke.
I say its 100% bullshit.

i say not so good pilots use it, like u say u dont want slow reflexes, so winning pilots dont use it, maybe not as many pilots as they say, but i dont doubt it

Err i don't mean to be rude, but in reducing reation times .... your reactions get quicker as the time is reduced  [/quote]

I find that hard to believe....
If they're out to improve reactions, there're a lot of other chemicals (caffine, theobromine, etc) they can use w/out the addictive, egregious effects of cocaine. Seems stupid.

doesn't everyone that can afford it use it lol :D 8)
but you can't trust an ex-medic,
how does he know 90% of driver use it? medics work with one team, and the FIA medic has been working in F1 for years and still working so it wasn't him, and he is the only one that goes from team to team.

ok first of all you cant tell when a guy is on coke by just lookin at him, second it does not slow your reaction times down, and 3rd of all this could be true as drivers almost never ever get drug checked in F1.

^ I think it was Robin Williams who said something along the lines of, "Using cocaine is god's way of telling you that you have too much money."

well the US military gives it to there pilots, to keep them awake for long missions,
so i don't see why it woulden't happen in F1.

wow! mike is prob into that stuff hard core. the first thing u notice when your on it is you can speak faster than an auction announcer. im sure it would speed your reaction time up for maybe the first 1/4 of the race then it would wear you down. And no, i dont think there would be a coke dispencer in their helmets to keep them going. But if youve seen schumi fly straight through the chicane during a qualifying session(srryforgtthetrack) he definately had some invulnerability feelings errupting.

there was a topic about drugs in motorsports 2 or 3 months ago...

BTW never heard of drivers beeing drug tested... :? (almost never ;) )

Ok first of all what makes you so confident that they take speed or somethin like that but not coke?? Why not coke, u cant tell when a guy is blitzed, unless hes totally fucked outta his mind.

hmmm, its not 90% its one third-1/3-33.33%
and why not ?? lots of sport players use drugs, one thing is that we dont get to know it and other thing is that we're told bout it

Because coke causes slow reaction times, and high body temperature. No fucking way do you need slow reaction times, and high body temperature in a race in Malaysia or Bahrain or Brazil in with a V10 revving at 19k right at your back.
While meth increases alterntnes, reduces fatige, give a huge energy boost.
When people say that athletes take cocain, they take it cause they have too much money, not to enhance their pefromance on the field. You dont take coke for that, my friend used to take coke and from what he described its not something you would want to take in a sport.

I hope none of this is true, and its very hard to believe anyway. I go to college in Los Angeles, and am constantly exposed to people who are coked up, believe me, you can tell. I also know that the comedown is so brutal that there's no way a the pilot would make it all the way through the race, press conference, etc... I have seen people pass out in the middle of doing something because of the comdown. Finally, I had to witness one of my best friends descend into cocaine addiction this semester, and you start to notice changes almost immediately, physical and personality- not that F1 drivers have any.
Ya^ I agree. Also if u keep taking it i would think u would get fucked up in the long run and shumi have been in F1 for along time.

Former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi's comment regarding the accusation:
"Honestly, this makes me laugh," Alesi told website GP2005.com.
"When you know that the F1 drivers need all their faculties to control fast cars and push them to the limit, where the least millimetre and a mere thousandth of a second in time can make reactions crucial, one can only laugh at these ludicrous accusations.
"Drivers are healthy people and need to be, and would never play with such dangerous products."

Fear and Loathing in 'Bahrain'
Journalist "Michael Schumacher" and his lawyer "Rubens Barrichello" drive from Malaysia to Bahrain on a drugs binge. They nominally cover news stories, including a convention on drug abuse, but also sink deeper into a frightening psychedelic otherworld. As Vietnam, Altamont and the Tate killings impinge from the world of TV news, "Michael" and "Rubens" see casinos, reptiles and the American dream.
... It's from fear and loathing in Las Vegas if you were wondering.

US Pilots high???? Buhahahahahaha!!!!!!!
Where do you get your info??? michael Moore???
My Uncle is a Pilot, those guy might be a tad nuts to do the sh1t they do. But never ever take drugs.
And no way michael and others are high.
Sounds like someone is jealous that they were a medic instead of a Driver.
