patong beach is the best vid so far.

I'm finding it hard to call any of those videos best, because of their content, but they sure are impressive and shocking in a way.

We have to watch these videos to understand it. That's why watching the 9/11 videos is still disturbing, but you still want to watch them.

Personally, i was wondering if any satellite captured the events... the US must have every corner of the globe on film :?

Its a very tragic incident. I was in Madras (Chennai - east coast of India), the day b4 this tragic disaster. Even that was hit by the waves. Though not as hard as all the other places but the death toll is rising there too..

patong beach is the best vid so far.
This reminds me, of one time when I and a few friends of mine had been on a roadtrip from Bombay to Goa (again India), and we had seen series of accidents. The one we saw last was very shocking and very fresh when we passed it. About 7 to 8 people had died on the spot and one of the person travelling with us said - "This is the Best accident by far". Although he was hurt to see it and wanted to say something emotional. But the way it was said we all felt very sick. We almost threw him out of the car for saying such a thing.

i dont understand, i see sooo many things of crazy natural disasters, but nothing came close to the amount of deaths of this one. I know this was huge, but there have been other huge ones in the past too and nothing like this.

It is terrible :(
I never though a disaster can kill as many people like here... :(

Right words are sometimes so hard to find. In the situation when someone you know has lost his relative of family, it's so hard to say anything, that it is easier to not confront the person at all.

Very true, mrmojo77.

Anyway coming back to the disaster, I read a book a while back by author - V. M. Rabolu. It is a very interesting read on why these disasters are becoming more and more common these days.

I think if people read it, it would certainly help in someway or the other. Heres the link to the preview of this book : http://india.hercolubus.net/Hercolubus_India.pdf (250kb file).

Thanks Dan, I've seen a few of these vids already, but the incredible power of those waves...I dunno...kind of at a loss for words. Last count I saw was more than 150,000 dead, and they were still finding bodies...terrible, just terrible. :-(
