this is NOT a 911 competitor. i'm not really sure where you came up with that.

first of all, it's still the size of a VX220 (very small), 2nd of all it's 45k pounds, 3rd of all, they're making 10 a year. It's simply a special edition VX220.
Size wise it is in the 911 territory, except that I bet it will not be any taller than the other VXes. They are really low! I still don't think that the size puts it in a different class. However, the weight does. At only 900 kg it has potential to outperform and outhandle any Porsche if they set it up properly.

I guess it will be in a class of its own, more powerful than the Elise and VX220s, but lighter and less powerful than the TVRs.

if they'll be able to make it handle like an Exige than it will eat any 911 - and i reckon that it will handle quite good (its gonna cost u 45.000 pounds wich compared to normal VX its quite a lot).
it will be bloody quick.

Should be quick although we'll see if they get it to handle with the extra weight. Certainly no 911 rival in terms of looks though, looks like it's sucking on a cactus which does nothing for me

Well it's still an Opel. Just think about it. Which would you rather take, a Porsche or an Opel? It wouldn't be hard choice for me. :)

it looks promising but is built on too small of a scale to even be considered!

Don't think so, but the backseats in a 911 is a joke anyway, so I don't care about that. In terms of seating and practicality I expect it to be in a completely different class than the 911. But practicality and size is not the same, is it? I ment size as in outer dimensions.

A VX 220 is actually wider than a 911, and this VX-S will be even wider. This isn't a very small car! It is a lot shorter, though. The 170 mm extension gives it a longer wheelbase than a 911, but if you stretch a VX220 by 170 mm it will still be ~400 mm shorter than a 911.

Anyways... I didn't mean that they are competitors, I just wanted to say that there are much more relevant differences than size. My point was that a 911 Carrera 2 weighs about 1500 kg, while the Vauxhall is 900 kg. Thats less than 2/3 of one of the lightest 911s! The size difference is negligible compared to this...

That car is just an Opel... an Opel and if you spend a lot of money on a car you want it to look good and not be an Opel.
I'm not an 911 fan but an Opel can't stand in it's shadow

911 is not just about speed, it's about the Porsche racing history and also it's legendary H6 rear engine layout. I have no doubt that Opel will be able to make a car faster than the 911 but it will never be the same. Moreover, they are in a different category of sports car. The Opel clearly going at the lightweight track car for the road.

all im seeing here is a bunch of people bitching, and not taking alot into consideration.
I agree. The focus of the thread drifted of early. And I'm week in those situations. I start arguing about more or less irrelevant details. Sorry...

I should have said that this is amazing power/weight ratio, and that I think Opel/Vauxhall with their british helpers are able to make it handle close to perfectly. This is a great car no matter what you should or want to compare it to.

And the looks: It has some challenging lines, and many will call it ugly, but I like it. It's not as boring as a 911. The VX-S looks very exotic and sporty. For a average person I think it looks more exciting than a 911. A 911 looks like it always has. Just another one of those Porsches that has been around forever. (Did I provoke anyone now? )

if history comes into play then .. lets get lambo factories to build tractors again :)

its not the history its not how much power it has its not how much it cost that makes it a super car... its how good it goes... ..
