View Full Version : Koenigsegg - The Worlds most powerful production car!

Apparently the Koenigsegg CCR is the most powerful production car in the world according to "Guinnes World Records". I'm not totally convinced because if we are talking power it's not horsepower we are talking about, rather Nm (torque). And in that case I think the 1000Nm Mercedes S/CL/SL 65 AMG are the winners.

Well 99% of the time, when you talk about power, you talk about HP...
And you can read in your link (...) a claimed 601 kW (806 hp) of power (...)

Actually it's 100% of the time :)
Because the unit for power is Watt, ... or kW, hp, J/s, Nm/s, etc.

How long will the CCR have the record is my question. The Veyron is setting to go into production real soon isn't it?

Yeah, caddy 16 won't be seeing the light of day. Just a publicity stunt for Cadillac, though it does point towards what path their future designs may take (much like the Nuvolari for Audi.)
Also, the term "production" is very fuzzy, and i don't know how GBWR defines it. I'm pretty sure the CCR meets the criterion, though the Veyron may usurp the spot soon... if bugatti ever gets its act together.

Actually, it´s quite sure now that the Veyron will be released in autumn next year. Can´t wait for the first test and especially Top Gear review  And it will have the 1001hp and 406km/h top speed as claimed.

Well, Ghostbat, you said it yourself. Nm is torque, while hp is power. Actually, as we can see from ghostbats list of denominations, power can be expressed in Nm/s. This means that power = torque/time.

Bugatti killed it's claim to 406km/h top speed. they had designed it wrong aerodynamically from the outset (like so many other things), and they realized they could never achieve that top speed. It was far too unstable once it surpassed 200mph, so they had to increase downforce to keep it on the road, and increased downforce = increased drag. they revised their calculated top speed with the increased downforce and drag to 239mph, and a CD of .39. (this came from a Road & Track earlier this year, August or so - someone can double check the figures if they're interested, or maybe bugatti has revised their claims again.)

Lol, I could have told Bugatti right from the start that it wasn't very aerodynamic.
I mean just look at it, it looks fat as a pig. But I figured, what do I know, there the
engineers, I'm just a stupid car freak. I guess that the engineers were so
absorbed into there work that they forgot to actually take a couple of steps back
and actually take a look at the whole car in perspective.

damn a dc of .39 is bad, they should and im sure could of done much better then that.
Yeah, they definitely could have, but even the bugatti engineers admitted that they designed the car backwards (style first, then engineering...) so that's what u end up with.
