Can I have one .... please.... The skyline R34 is by far one of my favorite cars ever..
By the way the very last skyline to ever get out from the factory was the M-spec Nur with only 250 or some day 400 cars ever made.. But this is even better..
Thanks for the pix..

Sweet! Love this car. only 20 though is a drag, and that's quite a steep price (and i'm sure there's no shortage of buyers.) It'd probably be cheaper to just tune one yourself. Oh, and so much for that "gentlemen's horsepower agreement." This one just blows it out of the water.

But it aren't really new cars. The V-Spec II Z-tune's are based on second hand R34's.

Actually I hear this is going to be sold from Nismo and not Nissan?
Nissan’s NISMO folks are launching the craziest version of the mighty R34 Skyline GT-R, the Z-tune. Z-tune features 500 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque from a totally reworked 2.8-liter race-bred engine (up from a 2.6-liter). Other modifications include carbon fiber front bumper, hood, front fenders and chassis reinforcements. We hear they’re building only 20 of these for worldwide sale and they go on sale Dec. 20 for $166,000. Call NISMO overseas sales department (tel. 011 81-3-3767-1930) for more info.

I agree with everso. It would've made much more sense to stuff that much tech into a "concept release" of the next skyline, instead of re-releasing a car that has already visually shown its age.
Don't get me wrong, I live the R34, but I'm against reruns of old glories. On to the future I say.

This is almost like the 360 CS before releasing the 430.....
All they want is try to push the limit of the exsiting model, no matter what they do, I am sure its not gonna affect the sales of the next generation GT-R.

Not quite. Remember that the 360 was still in production when they released the CS, but the R34 had already been retired.
I mean... think of it this way... Remember the older Mercedes SL? The one with the squarish headlamps? Would it make sense for Mercedes to re-release it again in 2005 with more tech and kit? It wouldn't at all, right?

And here I thought I was on an exclusive list having owned one of 50 RC45's produced.. ;)
This is almost like real life Gran Turismo 3 - everytime you think you have seen the last "Limited Edition" version of a regular Japanese Domestic Market car - they popped out another special version for each win... :P hehe

They're probably still waiting for a new Italian or British design to copy. You know the japs aren't that good at giving shape to cars...or creating something for that matter.

17,775,000 yen is 170,000 US
yeah is a lot of money, but not as much as Motorex charge for a used R34(100,000). Yes it's a lot of money for a GTR. but what can you expect from NISMO that charge 70,000 for the 350Z nismo.

this car is the greatest 8) ... thanks for the post dude, but about that 500 hp? will it be street legal in Japan? All I know that almost all Japanese cars in japan produces 280ps (or little more) or maybe this is the sequel of nissan 400R...

a GALLARDO would hand that R34's ass back to it...and look much
nicer while doing it
i don't think the GALLARDO does 0-400 meters in 11sec. like the GTR.
Nismo Skyline GT-R Z-tune
This is the hottest GT-R Nissan make. Or should we say Nismo, Nissan’s racing and tuning arm. Generating in excess of 440kW and 539Nm, the Z-tune is a rev-head’s delight and a bank manager’s nightmare. Costing upwards of 17 million yen ($170,000), the GT-R’s original 2.6 litre straight-6 twin turbocharged thumper has been bored out to 2.8 litres and goes like the proverbial showers. Try 0-400m in around 11 seconds. And to pull it up on the track, which is where this beast is ultimately headed, Nismo has employed a heavy modified brake package featuring 8-pot calipers on the front and 2 pots on the rear. Sitting on Bridgestone’s best high performance road-going rubber, Potenza S-03’s (275/30ZR19), the Z-tune should get within a bee’s weeny of its 320kph speedo.
if you guys remember the old Nismo 400R. it was 12million yens that 120,000 dollars. i'm not surprise for the price tag from Nismo. 20 units only because it is the 20th year anniversary of Nismo

I see ur point......but the SL example shouldn't appy either coz one generation is rite after another. As for the GT-R, there won't be any replacement until 2007, which makes it still an attractive car. (tho the price tag is wayyyyyy too high IMO) 100k~120k would be a better price point

True, but Nissan has already done a design overhaul after the R34 was retired.
All I'm saying is that maybe they should have tweaked the look a bit... something like a preview of what the new 2007 skyline would look like, but still using the R34's mechanicals, but NISMO-tuned, then just release 50 of them to make them super rare.
I mean... couldn't they have changed the front and back ends a bit? That's all. Wouldn't THAT make it super special?

I wonder if they are doing this because of how the Japanese gentlemens agreement of 280 hp was lifted...?

still waaaaaaay too expensive.

oh, and did you see the part where it says "1 year warranty"?? jokes. LOL
£10 says this R34 would win. Not based on Gran Tursimo or Need for Speed Underground (*shudders*) but Best Motoring. Would be tempted to bet money a couple of people will flame me for this as well

Sure... Best Motoring.
Great entertainment - however, what they prove more than anything is that when cars of similar performance get together the winner is determined by driver skill, track position and corner possesion more than performance numbers.
Period.
Watched 15 Hot Version and Best Motoring VHS tapes yetsreday, and this was borne out each and every time.
Period.
case closed.. ;)
So - based on that alone I know the R34 would lose - badly.
But it's still a nice car none the less... :P

Driver skill isn't the only factor surely, many of the best motoring people are of a similar level from what i can tell. The R34 is much more sophisticated in terms of drivetrain (from what I gather) than the Gallardo so on a twisty track it would have an advantage I would imagine. Also the Gallardo isn't that light is it? I would love to know how much this R34 weighs in comparison.

BM folks also start on a grid with the cars fairly spread out - so the cars out back have a lot of ground to make up.
Track position, corner possession (who has and who holds the fastest/racing line) and driver skill ALWAYS count more that pure performance numbers.
;)
Otherwise how else woudl the BM guys always beat the Ferraris and Porshces with JDM's - eyt when those same JDM's come to the rest of thre world they gfet their asses kicked in real world situaitons.. heheh :P ;)

Ok BEST MOTORING!
LOL Best Motoring can give you a good idea of a car, you can tell how well it corners accelerates etc, but its no source of hard data. I watch it because its entertaining and because it can give me a good idea of a car, or reinforce what I alerady know or has been said in case of an argument.
1) Best motoring races are always set on tight tracks. The Skyline has four wheel drive traction and most of the time it grabs first place, and holds it there until the race ends. Lasly their barely ever is a a STOCK skyline in a best motoring race.
2) You should watch some of the 2004 BM vids and youll clearly see that the R34 is getting old.
3) No why the hell would you want a car that drives for you? Fuck electronics and fuck four wheel drive. Give me a proper rear wheel drive, 400 horse power, with an option to turn TC off and Ill be happy.
P.S I dont even need to name a 200 000$ that will beat this toaster. How a bout a good old Yank mobile? Like a Z06? Thats for 1/4th of that figure of 200 000$

um.... alot of cars would hand this car its own ass on a track, and don't complain that it isn't fair to compair this car to "track" car, cause this car is made for track and strip racing, plain and simple a stock skyline would loose to a stock 360cs.
I would spend the 200$ canadian on the new 430! :D

Hm, and if Nissan is thinking about that really weird (ugly?) looking concept supercar for 2007 w/ maybe the twin turbo VQ V6 engine.... this might be the last really nice nissan performance car.
Highly tunable straight 6 with agressive, butch body lines.... hope this isn't the end of the good days.
