Damned Direct X and such...

Damned DirectX, damn nVidia drivers... I can't change my screen resolution because if I do, the computer will crash. Thus i can't play any game that requires full screen mode. I've never felt so much pain!. Can anyone please save me from this hellish doom?

might help to know what vid card, which drivers you're using, what version of DX9, and what games you're trying. :?:

im getting the same problem right now...
im playin half life 2.. well trying, and after like 10 mins the computer restarts...
this happened wieh i bought the last counter strike and i changed the video mode and it worked right, but i cant now.
i have a year old sony vaio, p42.66 512 ram, i dont know the vid, it said it didnt meet the minimum requirements to play it but i played it even with it sayin it and it worked fine.

Well, that's no longer a problem, but my real problem is, how can i reinstall old directX? Say...installing DX7 while i have DX9? Can anyone help please?
