Real nice 350Z (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/504211)

...because if it is, then serve me one, Yang Chow fried rice style! :lying:

(I suggest you view it all, up to the last page, and see how he went from stock to full bodykit)

well if they put that much money into the motor instead of the body the its not rice but as we can see that is not the chase

Its a tossup... because this car comes with some power and handling ability... and has been modded. However, after reading through this short mod list, it seems that almost evey mod is aesthetic... so Im going to have to say that it is rice... All show, no go:

INGS N-Spec Full Bodykit
Volk Racing SF Challenge Wheels in Gold (19 x 9.5 front and 19 x 10.5 rear)
Yokohama AVS Sport tires 245/35/19 and 275/30 /19
Tanabe GF210 Springs
HKS CF Titanium Single Exhaust System ------------>(a couple hp... give or take (see below))
Custom 3inch Y-Pipe ---------------------------------->(+5hp... assuming the engine doesnt rely on back pressure from the exhaust... in which case, it would lose hp.)
Mines Test Pipes -------------------------------------->(+5hp... i guess)
AEM CAI ---------------------------------------------->(+5hp maybe?)
Nismo Titanium shiftknob
Nismo Floormats
Nismo Oil Cap
Nismo Radiator Cap
Nismo Badges
Fairlady Z Badge

Definitely NOT rice. He has personalized it with the Nismo items, I would not call those mods. The exhaust does more than add power, it reduces weight. He has a nice balance of power and style. How much more power do you want from a reliable 3.5?

very well done car

not rice at all
looks great, keeps the original lines
but enhances them

obviously he has gone for the showroom clean sleak look .. rather then the RICER WING AND HONDA LOOK...

i wouldnt call it rice.. i would call it well portioned external modifcations with out any extreme rubbish...

its like lowering a and putting a kit on a audi A4.. is that rice also ... it already goes.. no need for more.. same with the 350z...

eh, it's kind of hard for me to talk shit about my beloved Zs...but the oil and radiator cap kinda make it smell like a rice paddy. The Fairlady Z badge is a cool addition but i don't think i would have added it until the car was done (mechanical upgrades) for all i know its a work in progress 8)

after working in a shop which the owner had a '00 Civic Si that was constantly @ SEMA (if anyone has gone in the past 2 or 3 years, it was the Gold Civic with the Carbon Fiber hood. Usually Versus Motorsport stickers on the windshield. Last year it was a graphics co. that was stuck to the side of the car. www.haskellauto.com i think has a pic of it.) I know these show cars are never finished. after each show they get new shit done to them, so it'l be back next year in a different form 8)

Well, I think the definition is a bit vague tho...
Do u think a AC body kit on a BMW is rice??....it's all the same.....as long as it is not "overly" done....

To me, that is some taseful body mods and some very light but functional performance mods and also the car has some performance to back those up. Not rice if u ask me. But if I were to have the same amount of money, maybe I will ditch those oil caps, badges ... for a nice set of coilovers.

Opinions seem sorta split. I was thinking the same thing as well (i.e. what defines rice?)

Like everybody else said... if you add an AC Schnitzer kit to a bimmer... is it rice? or a Hamman kit?

Does that mean selecting the AMG body mods (including the rims) without actually buying an AMG is the equivalent of going rice?

Personally, I thought going rice was adding all sorts of speakers, DVD systems, sub-woofers, and the lot to the car, while adding neon paint, and underbody lighting... maybe scissor doors, or hydros... I thought that was rice.

But if you go through the list again... he went for tauter springs, new tires, a better exhaust, and other light performance mods. Almost as if he was deliberately refusing to turbo/supercharge the engine.

And, mind you, the total cost of the mods meant for performance should cost more than the cost for the mods meant for looks. (at least it looks that way to me)

I honestly have to say that this wasn't a rice job. If he pushes further (big speakers, silly paint, etc.) then I will agree that it would be. But for now, I think this was a well thought out job, and IMO, not a rice cake.

I say its not rice at all. He spent money on performance parts for power and handling. Just because he wanted to modify the exterior of his car doesn't make him a ricer. Ever since F&F if anyone does anything to change the looks of their car they are immidiately accused of being a ricer, Jesus people appreciate people's desire to have their own unique look for their car.

LOL!!! 400HP dude, assuming 2nd gear start take away 20% of 1st, and then handbake take away another 10, and assuming u have ur A/C on too (just to be cool) u still have 400 - 80 - 10 - 10 = 300 ....That's still 13 more than the Z.....but u are in an advantage tho, coz a viper owner cannot say the same to u keke

heres and Idea...

 the term "riced" comes from tuned up japanese cars right?

this car was designed in california, not japan.

so IT CAN'T Be RICE!!!

I WIN! :D 8)

by the way, who the hell cares if its "riced" or not. I you like the car, you like it, if you don't, you don't.

"I just bought an E320 Diesel... I checked off everything on the list... sat-nav, heated seats, 18" AMG rims and the AMG bodykit..."

"wait... you got an AMG kit on your diesel E?"

"Yeah! I wanted it to stand out a bit more y'know..."

"Blimey. You do know that doing that is considered sauekraut right?"

Personally, I still think it hasn't crossed the rice line.

I would also like to point out that people who spend a lot of money on tasteful exterior body mods have a high tendency to also add performance parts to match the looks sooner or later.
