Forged Crank and TITANIUM rods? This thing is just begging to be built up. I'll bet this engine can handle over 700 hp.

I doubt the Z06 is going to be sold in Europe, the last one wasn't. I think they should though, in limited numbers. So, I doubt Top gear will ever test it. Clarkson wouldn't give it a fair chance anyway. Especially if it turns out to be faster than his Ford GT. Afterall, according to Top Gear, an NSX outdrags a base C6. :roll:

i really dont think so, i mean, what does the F430 have that the vette doesnt? the vette has more hp a lot more torque and about 100,000 cheaper. plus the big factor to me is the weight, that will help out a lot in every department, especially handling. and since the current 405 hp z06 is already a solid handler there is not much doubt in my mind that this car will handle just as good and probably better. :D

Looks to be a very good chance this Z06 will be noticeably quicker than the 430, just like the C5 Z06 and the 360 Modena.

Remember that with just 405hp and 400hp C5 Z06 owners were pulling sub 4sec 0-60mph and flat 12 sec 1/4mi times...and this has another 100hp and apparently less weight. I can't wait to see what kind of times this C6 Z06 runs in the hands of skilled owners. :twisted:

Any guesses as to the time it will run on Nordschleife...? :D

Looks good, but does anyone think those wheels look like chrome version of the Enzo's?

Your right it has the Malibu Maxx steering wheel.

And Sentra_dude don't forget the older 385 Z06's either. not just the 405hp ones.

Also dont forget that 500hp is 425 rwhp - and I know of at least 25 such Z06's in Houston alone - the F360 is a piss easy car to dominate performance wise - and the F430 is just as easy. :wink:

The car has awesome numbers - pretty much what a current heads/cam Z06 delivers - but the overall look is semi-aggressive but still a little tame.

But make no mistake - it will be kicking ass everywhere.

The C6 Z06 car with a 150 wet-shot for good measure will blow everything off the road - Enzo, Macca F1, CGT etc... :wink: :twisted:

Credit where credits due, that engine by the details looks highly impressive, but 500 bhp from 7 litres? Come on boys you can do better than that :wink: :P

Seriously though, i quite like the car, i personally cant see them selling in europe, the fuel consumption alone must put pay to that!
But, nice car, are the GT1's gunna be at LEMANS next year? Looks like those 575's are gunna be even more fucked next year!

why wouldn't it sell well because of fuel consumption. People shopping for a performance car are well aware of the expenses that come with a 500hp+ car, such as gas, insurance,etc. Besides it will most likely get better mileage than any of the cars that it's competing with. Again, american engineers don't really bother woth peaky engines. Their philosophy is simple. Make it fast, as cheap as possible, and not complicated. Of course they could get 500hp out of a 5L or even a 4L if they tried, but then you have a peaky engine, with complicated parts prone to failure, and not a lot of usable power "under the curve". I'd much rather have a 7L engine with 500hp, than a 6L engine with 550hp. Again if they offer it in europe I predict the Z06 will sell extrtemely well. Even after all the taxes and duties that you will pay you will get a hell of a car compared to the italian and german counterparts which will still cost a lot more. And unlike the US, there won't be a vette around every corner so you still get a pretty rare car for your money and not something that you see everyday.

How can you say that? If everybody had that attitude there would be no progression nor development because it's simply "working fine" today.

As for the 'Vette, it does seem like a modern classic American muscle car with the big lazy V8 and ridiculously cheap price, but, 1) Won't tyres that wide hamper rather than aid the handling of car (not to mention the suspension) and 2) I appreciate that they did not want to "strain" the engine, but surely 71 bhp/litre is just woefully inefficent compared with the F430 (112 bhp/litre) :?

I don't see how wide tires would hamper performance in any way, well maybe if they're too wide but the tires on the z06 will be 335s in the rear at most and are 275s in the front, I believe. Again American engineers don't think of efficiency in terms of hp/L but in terms of hp/dollar. You could probably buy a new Z06 for the same price that you coud buy the F430's engine.

i think DanielW summed it up pretty well talking about low end power and all. i mean great 112hp/liter but are you saying that a car has to have an "efficient" engine to be considered good? the bottom line is which car goes faster not how good ro bad the engine specs are.

and the "low technology" isnt simply "working fine" its keeping pace with the benchmark of the class. in regards not only to straight line acceleration but also handling.

i do understand however that these 2 cars despite being in the same class are worlds apart. i mean i would be shocked to see ferrari have a 7 liter v8 with 500 ft-lbs of torque in their cars and it would pretty much go against their whole heratage. but i dont like when cars like the z06 get downplayed because they are "inefficient."

That's the same leaf spring from the horse and buggy days, right? Wrong. This leaf spring is made out of high tech plastic so it will not wear out fast like a metal spring and it is a single leaf besides. I love it when people compare a $55.000 USD American car to a $160.000 foreign car..

1) yes, wider tyres on the front will numb out the steering feel alittle, but that should be counter out abit by the front mounted big blocks.

2) Why do we have to go over the HP thingy over and over again. HP is a rating of work done...thus, distance is part of the equation. The fact that Ferrari engine has a higher RPM will mean that it will for sure produce more HP/L. It is torque over the rev band that matters in acceleration.

3) I really don't know the efficiency, but I am quite sure that this block will sustain more abuse than the Ferrari for sure.

The car looks a whole lot better than its predecessor. For some reason though the front reminds me of a ferrari, maybe its the lights.

I actually liked the older one better. I liked it wider and lower. It looks taller and narrower now (at least the back). The headlights are really the only part I don't like...reminds me more of the Mitsu 3000GT than a Modena...
