Porsche Carrera GT time attack at Suzuka!

Hi.

I have the Best Motoring video of the test of the Porsche Carrera GT at Suzuka Circuit. It has some technical explanations (in Japanese, not that interesting) and then Gan-San (the old man) does a time attack at the Suzuka circuit (on board video).

Gan-San has bought a Carrera GT but I think the car featured in this video is not his own car, but rather a press car.

Since my FTP server doesn't allow me to host videos anymore (due to excessive traffic in the past), I want to ask if anyone here is interested in hosting the video for everyone.

Hi, sorry for my long absence from JW. I'm now ready to give the video to whoever wants to host it, I'm just having trouble to cut that segment from the full Best Motoring episode. The file is a .OGM and neither VirtualDub nor ASF/WMV/AVI/MPG Cutter can cut it. What program should I use?

I do not know if you resolved the issue - but I have been involved in Video encoding recently and found a lovely little program called "AviSynth".
I guess that if you use the "DirectShowSource", DirectX should take care of the rendering and you can frame serve the file to VirtualDUB. If you still have the video and are willing to share it, I may be able to help. Just PM me if this post is still valid.

I got the BMI Episode "Enduro Challenge", that features the same footage of the Carrera GT, but now in English!! And because it's an MPG, I've already cut it. It's an 80 Mb file, who wants to host it?

Hmm. 80MB. I will just have to check my space and bandwidth availability. I may be able to host it for a short period...

If only you could email an 80MB attachment we could all use gmail to spread the footage! 8)

hmmm - I guess if you break up the footage into 10 X 8MB files, you could email it to a gmail account as an attachment...
I have no issues rebuilding the full file myself. That way there should not be bandwidth issues for anyone. 8)

I was a little surprised at the not-so-glowing review he gave the CGT, but at least he was telling us what he thought.

A few questions,

What is this he is talking about with Porsche making 25-30% of their revenue on fees for R&D? I've never heard about that, has anyone else?

What is dry carbon, is that just another name for standard carbon fibre or what?

... may be he has improved all the things he thought were not up to the job - I mean... 'the suspensions are soft, the tyres doesn't grip enough' :? those japanese love to tune this kind of supercars - I remember a prepared F50 and a F40 LM-look-alike in some of the BMI vids :D What about a CGT Clubsport then?? :twisted:

I think he ordered it before testing it :wink: I am a bit disappointed to not see another Supercar battle :( They didn't test the Enzo yet and the Carrera GT didn't made any apparition. When I remember the old Superbattle like F50 vs F40 vs Diablo vs ... in 2000 or all the Ferrari vids I can't help to wait much more than what they propose for now ... :?

I also have the Carrera Invasion superbattle and indepth tests (1/4 mile, braking, handling, track tests). Tests out the new Carrera and Carrera S against 350z's, 911 turbos, 360 modenas and the nsx r...also subbed in english.

The video also has a preview of the new Evo IX and a time attack on the nur.

It's pretty big though, so I'd need someone who's got alotta space to burn.
