Well I just orderd it. Should get the technician to come over the upcoming wednesday....the bad part is that I have a router and a few computers connected to it, plus cable split to 4 rooms which I should not do

Anyway its a 5.0mbps downstream and 800kbps upstream and unlimited bandwith the lady said. Its cable and not DSL.

Anybody in Canada or in Toronto have it? How is it? How are the speeds on average how is server stability etc?

At the moment I have sympatico but its too slow for me. I get about 2mbps and shity upload speeds.

LOL strange to ask when anyway you already signed for it :P

A 5 Mbit shouldn't be too bad and the upstream rocks (if you get what they promise of course ;))

Ha mate that sounds fantastic compared to the ADSL we've got in Aus - 512 / 256. They are starting to get excited about 1mb
What sort of speeds do you get at 5mb d/l? hope it goes well for you

Speeds are 600kb/sec to 800kb/sec from what I just read on the forums.

it's just the same as the regular hispeed from rogers (the one i'm using right now)

but ya gotta BUY the modem at 99.99 for that service. a great fucking deal for sure.

i have cable at 750k :)

I think that speeds will be as advertised... distance from the exchange isn't an issue with cable, only with DSL 8)

Im getting the EXTREME service. They called me offering the extreme serivice. And said that I dont have to buy the modem. If I have to buy it they can fuck off, like I have the money for the modem.

Dont forget its rogers. They'll do anything to keep a customer.

I have rogers highspeed, but not the ultra you speak of. I have one computer using the service, and speeds are quick. I download aat around 350 kbs max....it will be interesting to see how much quicker it is, because two years ago when i first moved to london I had sympatico highspeed, then the business highspeed which was supposed to be faster (it sold me on it because download and upload liimits were higher, and the 4 of us were using up too much bandwidth) but the speeds were not much better. I hope you get the 500-750 advertised, but between 4 comps, im assuming you may not crack 400....but thats still blazin quick if u ask me! good luck, keep us ontario folks posted about if it is worth it.

I got a bit of a downloading going but...this still shows the relative performance of it.

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests/4665718;808407;0809cf558e39d0f9b67995998fd2149b;2. 0;speedtest.cogeco.net/1102339335

Your download speed : 4665718 bps, or 4556 kbps.
A 569.5 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 808407 bps, or 789 kbps.

You do have to buy the modem. It's a one time 100$ charge but it's worth it, I never achieved maximum speeds on just rogers express.

Guys so it actually is a normal high speed. Not extreme. The fuckers tricked me. But its ALL GOOD!

Right now at 10:52PM (BUSY TIME FOR INTERNET) Im getting 270KB/SEC download. I've been downloading the entire day to see how it is and thats what I got.

3PM to around 8PM I was getting 450KB/SEC thats more then what I should be getting which is 3mbps.

So far, its awesome. Ill see how it goes tomorrow.

i have 512 at the moment, however we are upgrading to 1.5M and i live in a country town. it is really expensive because of the massive distances! it costs heaps to get the cable in the ground to start with
