View Full Version : Slow Steering Boxes In Japaniese Cars?

Well after watching many best motoring video's Japaniese cars seem to have extremly slow ratios on their steering boxes. The drivers turn the wheel so much that their arms are always crossing. Pretty much every Japaniese car has that.

Then I watched a couple of onboard Ferrari vids and the drivers never turn the wheel as much, they are only using about 280degrees of the whole turning range on the track.

Do Japaniese have rack-and-pinion steering or something else?

Dunno, was just watching a 147 GTA vs Golf R32 vs RSX Type R vs RX-8 and S2000 test and I didn't noticed anything strange.. but usually I look at the foot work when the camera is inside...

Have you been in a Ford truck lately? It is like 1 full revolution just to change lanes. In my Honda it is just a slight twich.

The honda i drive it takes alittle nudge to get it to change lanes, but i have noticed that about the best motoring drivers. The love to induce oversteer.

It's the way they drive, not the steering boxes. Alfas do have extremeliy direct steering, though, but sporty japaenese car are practicaly no different than an BMW or similar cars
