I read over on BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4043959.stm) that some ppl in the UK want this to happen.

They should have a warning all over the windscreen IMO........ "Warning look out for small cars like mini's" and use those strange things sticking out from the side for something other than checking your hair in.
On a more serious note the vast majority are unecessary over here so yes i'd agree with them in part

Here's something else. According to the World Health Organisation, the SUV is set to be the world's third most common cause of death and disability by 2020 ahead of TB, HIV and war." I find this frankly frightening.

So do they just get dumber in Europe or what??
How can you compaire unlike cars like that? SUV cause more deaths...that't becuase idots in there lil cars are zipping in and out of trafic, and fail to take into the fact that a SUV does not stop nor handle like there car, so they in fact cause all the trouble.
And yeah they tend to make a lil more pollution then a car with a 1.9l motor, after it they usaly have 4.4L-10L motors in them. so that was a stupid mute point. They might as well say that a MB semi makes more pollution then a MB E-Class diesel, there for semi trucks should be banned.
And people should not step out in front of SUV, they tend to stop as fast as trucks do.
