I heard about this extreme ride/what ever you want to call it, about a year ago. But now im soon to be going on a trip to New Zealand I looked into this.

I must say this looks absolutly fucking crazy.
Check some of the blurbs and pics, the web link is here

Experience exhilarating speeds, a huge adrenaline rush, total weightlessness and finally, serenity as the high speed plane glides gently to the end of your six minute flight experience.

Fly by Wire is the world's first adventure flight offering full pilot control of a high speed tethered plane. The plane is suspended from an overhead suspension point, which allows the high speed flight anywhere within the spectacular deep canyon.

Fly by Wire gives YOU, the pilot, a spectacular 6 minute powered flight. Full pilot control allows you to fly fast or slow in any direction and to launch at any point during the starting ascent, giving you the choice of either a high adrenalin launch or a gentle take-off. Once flying, you're completely on your own, free to fly as high and as fast as you want. The controls consist of steering, throttle and tow release. The instrument panel displays airspeed, engine gauges and flight time!

For maximum height, try repeated hairpin turns. Moving into a huge circular flight path allows high speed runs close to the ground. Try a terrifying tail-slide from the highest point! The plane cannot be oversteered or flown out of control so you're safe at all times.

The plane has been clocked at 171kph, (106mph) making it the world's fastest ride. Built of premium grade aircraft materials, using state of the art design and manufacturing techniques, the plane is extremely strong. Powered by a 60hp aircraft engine, it produces an awesome power to weight ratio.

That looks cool as hell, but i would chiken out if some one said "here you go your turn" but if i were with friends and they dared me to, i would suck it up and prove them wrong.....and cut a few years off my life.

There is the most fun to be had going fast in machines that werent meant to go fast :D
