PM me with the last 7 of the VIN and tell me what you need fixed. i can give you a ballpark figure but it's going to depend on what the dealer charges.
Having a 1995 E36 I think I quality :D
Well, if you go to an official dealership like I do, it won't be cheap! not at all! :?

Depending on the dealer, they will cost the same if not more than Mercs.

It'll depend mostly on the mileage of the car and how well the previous owner cared for it.
But I have an E36 328is right now with 110k. As of right now, I had not had to change anything significant except for the clutch.
The thing that is bugging me about the E36 and as well as a lot of higher mileage cars are the sensors. Major components should not fail as long as you take care of them. But a $100 sensor here and there will.
Those cost will start to add up down the line.

All german cars are around the same (depending on what part and what level of car).. except porsche
i have a 98 2.8 a4
i have had to replace two O2 sensors ($130 a piece), drive shaft (3k), sway arm ($200) and two front axles ($450 a pop). my car has 161k on it and it drives like the day i drove it off the lot. I would drive a merc if i want to roll in style and quality, i would drive a beamer if i want to cruise in pure german quality and performance, and i would drive audi if i want the pure enjoyment of driving quality.
good luck in finding parts @ a resonable price ae86_16v, the shit gets a little tricky... just try and stay away from getting them @ the dealerships at all costs, with dealerships your talking about a 50-100+% increase in $$. i call my car my "woman" simply because it has its "period" once a month.. "check engine light"... and 95% of the time its because of ECT / O2 sensors. they become a costly expense.. but thats the pain from driving a german piece of art.

Voo - exactly. I just had to special order some new O2s for my car. $150 a pop. But nothing else does drive like it though.
