Thanks a lot st-anger :D there is a topic about the time posted by the M5 and some people found it disappointing. As I don't speak german could someone tell us what they say about the NS time and accelerations and so on ... ?

...well, haven´t had the time for reading the posts over there, but here´s what i think...
to say it, i´m a HUGE fan of the latest ///M5 - unfortunately my BMW dealer knows this  - BUT, the M5 is NO NO NO sportscar, so a time of 8:13 is really really good, i don´t know why ppl expected such low times like eight flat, come on...this is a 1800kg sports saloon and no 997S which does it in 8mins...
sure BMW claimed that i can do it in 8mins, BUT, again like we had the discussion on the CGT, this time had been acchieved with a prototype car and with a BMW test driver like h.j. stuck a guy who´s like the WR of Porsche or Klaus Ludwig of AMG...
i agree that this wasn´t a very smart step from ///M guys, but well, tyres are always a factor, especially on such heavy cars like the new M5 - and as readable in the article, the BMW of the Supertest did it with the Conti´s and NOT with the faster Michelins!
nevertheless, it´s not very likely that it´ll be 13sec faster with the Michelins, maybe 5secs or something like that...
so i still think that the NS and HHR lap times are great, when ppl know how difficult it is to be that fast with a 1800kg saloon, they´d immediately stop complaining - after seeing how the "benchmark" for some ppl here, Mr.JC, did on the NS i hope that some more ppl will understand that a good lap time on NS is sooooooooo hard to achieve and what´s even more important: PRACTICE!!!
to say it, i know drivers that are equally fast with the "old" E39 M5 than HvS with the latest E60 one...
so i´d really know WHY ppl are complaining - superb lap times for a sports saloon - but that´s just my opinion...
so here´re the most important facts what SA said:
NS time:
seems like the new M5 has NO 250 limiter, the E60 M5 exactely ran 269kmh ( GPS measured ) but it could have done even better without that limiter...
vehicle handling and performance is exemplary although they expected a more sportier suspension layout...
HHR:
over a second faster than the E39 ( which is A LOT on HHR )
excellent V10 engine that delivers steady power form corner to corner, very neutral driveability, no load cycle changes...
high weight´s eating the tyres...
accl /de-accl:
the real potential of the V10 is clearly visible when looking at the performace in relation to the weight ( 3.6kg/hp is F 575M niveau ) the variable rear-diff with 100% lock is working perfectly under all circumstances and pavements...
very fast, fascinating and precise SMG tranny...
what HvS said:
- understands that the M5 couldn´t reach the predicts of some ( e.g. ///M GmbH ) opitmists
- perfect solution: very close to a sportscar but also a very comfy sports saloon with good everydays usability...
- outstanding engine
- ///M GmbH again produced an outstanding product - the benchmark in it´s class...
sorry haven´t had more time, when someone has specific questions about the article or whatever plz feel free to ask...

Vielen Dank st-anger !
Like draak666 said so well , it's best the way for practising his German when the subject interests us. In the present case here, an article about an übersaloon like the M5 is really enthralling. :D

yeah .. love that engine though .. the amt. of new technology that went into it is really significant ... esp the knock control circuitry

Thanks so much for scanning this article. I have been waiting to see how the E60 would do on NS. Pretty amazing indeed for a heavy sedan but it is disappointing that the time isn't much of an improvement on the older model.
St-anger on the HHR section of the article you indicated they said there were “no load cycle changes”. Could you describe what this term means more precisely. I know that you have used it before. Based on the context in other posts you have made it sounds like it refers to the whether the application of power to the rear wheels (both on or off) upsets the handling of the car.
I interrupt this as power on understeer and lift throttle oversteer. Do I understand this correctly?

it has not necessarily something to do with power on understeer or lift throttle oversteer, so something in combination with the accl/de-accl process, i don´t know a "proper" engl. term for "load cycle change" we´re using it here for the word "lastwechsel" which is the building up of the car in a e.g. left-right combination corner which has to be corrected with some steering inputs to catch back the rear end...
hope this helps a bit...

Thank you very much mate :D That's what I was waiting. I have the same opinion, 8:13 is not disappointing with that sort of car and this M5 seems to be a great achievement one more time :P
