View Full Version : Laptop touchpad problem

The mouse pointer on my laptop screen keeps freezing after extended time without use (maybe 30mins is enough for it to happen). When I return I use the touchpad but am unable to get the pointer to move.....sometimes clicking the pad and left/right buttons wildly gets it going again. I have a feeling it is heat related, as it happens after the laptop has been on for awhile and is getting worse now that the ambient temperature is getting hot (35C).
Any ideas if my idea is right or any possible solutions to overcome this problem would be appreciated.
Thanks. :D

try elevating your computer off the table. I use 4 big soda bottle caps under the corners at home and a roll of duct tape at work. mainly, just keep the fans intake off the table so it can get some airflow. It's never gotten hot since i did that. probably wouldn't be a bad idea to blow out the fan's intake as well. A can of compressed air should work nicely. I imagine Australia is rather dusty so you might have a little colony of dust bunnies living in your fan.
hopefully my quick fix idea helps :D

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a go. :D
BTW, where I live (in the city) its not very dusty.....thats more likely to happen in the country areas.
