over the course of the past 3 months my computer will randomly restart. i thought it was the cpu, mobo, ram, power supply...i switched all of those out one by one and the problem still persists...
what i have left to check now is video card, cd drives and hard drive.
my next bet is the hard drive, since i just bought new mobo and and cpu.
Have any of you guys heard of hard drives failing like this causing non stop reboot?
Thanks
Tony

check your temps, the pc will automatically shut off or restart if it gets too hot...what are your specs??

my prob was my motherboard, it was fucked
you could be having "brown outs" in you actual power suply!
so try runnin an extention coard from another power point, peferabley in another room.
it could be beacuse an appliance that uses alot of power gets turned on
ie: air conditioner, pool filter.
there is alot it could be.

oh and in response to the power supply? you mean the power strip or power surge right? if that is the case then wouldn't all the other appliances that is connected to the computer also shut down? or flicker or something? i tried my computer with two different power strips that's plugged into sockets right next to each other. Maybe it just has problem with that socket location? I'm going to try and run it from a different location for the time being..either that or switch video cards.

Did you try cleaning your PC? Quite often, a dying fan is the culprit.
are u sure it's a hardware problem?
have u tried a clean install of ur o/s?
and how old/wat brand is ur power supply?

i have new mobo, pc, and new case so all the fans should be good.
i formatted couple times already with both of my hard drives each using it as a master too.
my power supply is 431 W enermax that I got maybe a little over 2 years ago. I tried just changing only the power supply to a 550 watt but it still had a problem too.

both usually under 40..i rarely see it go past that but never over 50...my comp will reboot even under 40 C, so i'm pretty sure it is not a temp problem
when does it usually restart? just at random? because it could be a conflict problem

its totally random..sometimes it'll last for a couple of hours ..and sometimes it'll restart within 5 minutes. what do u mean by conflict problem?
It could be a hardware conflict.
The hardware might not be compatible with each other and with software. for example you might have two ram chips that have different CAS latencys.
download CPUZ

then post the screenshots of the results.
Have you installed any new hardware recently ? :eating:
