I suppose that the brand is conscious that the car can be crashed so they only want to take this risk with only one car...

And also: the Zonda Roadster used by Hammond is the same used by evo (the magazine), I am 99% sure ;) and it's actually not a press car but a privately owned one!

not only generous but really lucky to be able to have one. top gear said that is cost $415k!!!! man, you guys have any idea how long that would take me to get one?

lets see: working at resteraunt $5 per hour.
415000/5 = 83000 hour. = 3458.3 days = 9.474 years.

i can get 1 in 9 years and that is if i work 24/7 a day for 9 years.
man, that sucks, this just make me realized how poor i am. :(

Oh for god's sake.. lol. Think how much time you wasted working that out.. :) could have been out there earning some money.

A used zonda in five years will be worth half that money, plus if you work you way up to restaurant manager you may be earning 10 bucks an hour - see - you're already much closer :P

by the way, are they just gonna made 40 of them? everyone kept telling different stories, someone said 20 someone said no limit ....

That's very common.

At least here in Portugal. In car magazines a lot of times they test the same car, with the same plate. In mags that come out exactly in the same day. And a lot of times, in a comparison between the same cars, in diferent mags, they give the victory to diferent cars.

Aston Martin is a tiny company.... remember, before the DB7, they were selling only 60-70 cars per annum, and only 1500 in the 50 years before 1990 (in total!!)

They simply cannot justify having more than one, £180k press car, that will need maintaining (remember, a mag tester does not change the tyres, or replace worn out/broken parts)

This explains why this particular Vanq S is in all the UK car magazines this month.

Same for the Pagani Zonda Roadster.... with only 40 built to reserve one for the press would be stupid, unlike the Zonda C12S. In this month's evo magazine, the car is the original press model, with "well over 120, 000kms on the clock" Not bad for a supercar, but then it is powered by AMG Mercedes

You remember the one (first production unit, a yellow one) used for review couple of years back by Vicki? That wasn't a press car either. So no "Tiff Needell" driving for her.

This is not the first time that the same test car has been used on top gear and fifth gear for the same comparo. The Voxhaul Manaro(Holden to everyone else) that was tested a few weeks ago on top gear was also tested on fifth gear.

You're never going to see a second hand Zonda worth half its cost mate. Once they release their "little" car, the brand will skyrocket, and everybody who had bought one of the limited edition roadsters will have bought an absolute collector's item.

Lucky fucks.

I agree, the work done and put into to make the topgear one is sooo much better. as was the review

but the Aston is such a bad car, I don't think it is good for their press with all the car problems both programs had.
