View Full Version : Business Studies Report BMW
Hi everyone, i hope this is the right place to post such a thing.
I am doing a business report on a campany as part of my university's business studies course.
As a car fanatic i naturally chose to do my report about a car company. I chose BMW because i like the car and there's also a lot of information on the company online.
The problem is that i do not know the difference between BMW AG, BMW GROUP, and BMW. Are they separate companies? Which one would be more suitable to talk about.
Also I need to start with a brief history of BMW.
The website was not much help because i do not know what Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke was. :? Was it an aircraft maker ? I need a brief summary of their history.
I hope somebody can help with these points.
Thanks in advance. :D
What BMW AG means is i think the holding of BMW (AG is an short name for an company form) and the BMW-group are all the makes that BMW ownes like BMW, Mini etc and Bayerische (Bayern) is the region where the make BMW's
here's a site with info

If I'm not mistaken AG stands for Aktien Geselschaft or something like that. I guess all the companies you mention have some sort of mother-daughter relationship. Since BMW is a public company I assume you will be able to download some yearly report which contains all sorts of official accounting infiormation, and also the structure of the group.
The thing that I found quite remarkable when I was still at university was that companies are more than happy to help you with any questions you might have about them, so I suggest you write to your local head office directly. They'll probably send you lots of info for free. What sort of information are you looking for, anyway?

hey what does GmbH stand for??
"Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung"
is a form of legal company structure. I believe the english equivalent is a "limited". In other words you have shareholders who own shares(not publicly traded, AG is a publicly listed company) in the company. The shareholders are only liable for the money they invest in the company. As opposed to being the owner of a company or "CEO" of a GmbH where you are liable with all your assets.
As for BMW, what makes BWM interesting in my opinion is the amount of influence the Quandt family has (largest shareholder). How ever be warned you find it difficult to find out more information about the family. They live a reclusive life.
Sorry if I am going to offend anyone....
But what the fuck is the point of doing studies for your self if all you are going to do is turn the research over to others?
It is your course - so it needs to be your work.
A part of the higher learning experience is to be able to gather the information yourself and then filter out the required facts yourself then prepare the report/thesis yourself
If there is one thing that really chaps my a$$ it is people who are either too lazy or too fucking stupid to their own fucking work!!!!
:)
There - I have said my piece.

this is true..I'm sure there is a bmw enthusiast website or something along those lines that would give you a good history of BMW, the worst possible senario would be buying a book and reading it..

My QPA should be around 3.7 /.8 at the end of this semester so im far from lazy.
I never asked for anyone to DO the report for me. I am on a border line A/B in Business studies so i need to do really well on this report to ensure an A grade.
I was not planning to post to report elements, BUT I DID SO because someone wanted to see them.
I understand your point, and i will do the report my self it's just that i was not able to find much information about some things.
Thanks.
These are the elements of the Business report.

with which of these elements do you have the most problems? Because I dont want to write your whole report ;) - and I think most of the informations you find easily on the net.
A major problem i've come across is that i've studied the American system of Business. So for example you have CEO's.
But in the German system eveything has a different name so it's unclear how to relate it to what i know.
I'm still currently working on the project so once i've finished what i can do, il ask you guys for for help if possible. I will leave elements like history untill the end.
Thanks a lot.
