...a brief moment today... :)

A tidbit of info about the new C6 Z06 somehow ended up in my little corner of JW...

http://www.motorworld.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18159&start=20

So I posted a thread on Z06Vette.com about a minute later.

http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70048&page=1

Well - it took off from there and less than 24 hours later these were the types of emails that Web Masters all over the grand Al-Gore created InterWeb/s were receiving....

Dear Sir,

My name is Mike xxxxxxx and I'm the xxxxxxx of Broadcast Communications for General Motors.

I've noticed that you have one of GM's embargoed photographs of the 2005 Corvette on your website. Since this image is embargoed until January 10, 2005, I am asking that you remove the image from your site until the embargo is lifted. While I don't expect you to tell me who provided you with the image, I am wondering if you would tell me if you received the image before Noon on Tuesday, November 9.

If there is any confusion regarding usage of GM's embargoed images or if you would like to discuss the situation with me, I can be reached through
email, or by phone at 313-665-xxxx. Thank you for your help with this matter.

Mike xxxxxxxx

Thanks,

The likes of GMInsidernews and LS1TEch.com and and LS2.com and DigitalCorvettes.com etc across the vastness of Bushes Internets all posted threads based on that single thread I started based on a single anonymous tidbit I received here at JW.

So - when people say they are connected - let's know and respect them for being connected - because they are...

JW IS the automotive centre of the universe... hehehehe

This is the offending image :) - and JW posted it FIRST - before ANYONE else!!!

Fascinating. I wonder if car makers keep taps on the JW and others for ideas. I would. It'd be foolish for a company to ignore reactions to its own cars. But I don't believe in marketing research though.

I think you should really put the pics away RC45. You don't want to get sued. Or god forbid should GM try to shut JW down.

No probs Jabba - will do next time.... I just wasn't sure how much heat you wanted.. ;)

That's the reason I was sure to not point anyone this way - I figured you didn't want a bunch of n00bs littering our hallowed halls.. - plus I didn't want to get our "anonymous" source too exposed.. hehehe :P

Which logo you want to see? A small JW or the whole www.jabbasworld.com URL logo?

Jabba
11-11-2004, 09:31 AM
I think TT uses both...but yes the URL is the most important....and yes we have a good heat shield fitted on JW

LOL! :D Superb stuff there, RC and whoever was the source...

GM's attempts to try and remove the picture and info from the internet are pathetic. They should know it's too late by now. Does embargoed mean that the press is not allowed to print them until january 6?

RC45

It sure does :)

LOL - so much for the images being "Cover Page Exclusive".. ;)

Hahah, now when Motor Trend or Road & Track puts that picture on their front cover and says "exclusive picture of C6 Z06...you see it here first!" we can all laugh! :D 8)

So then not only GM is pissed off about this, but so are the hacks. I'm sure some of them have seen the picture on the net, but know they can't print it for another 2 months! LOL

It is very impressive looking car, so I understand the fuss :D
Haven't those GM people yet realized that once the picture gets in the net, it stays there, unless they pull the plug of from the whole internet.

Yeah, exactly. Once the cat is out of the bag.....
