the technology in this engine is insane.

the machinery used, tolerances and general build of the engine is where its at for these cars. i agree going in a straight line sucks but... that's the point of drag racing. its all engine baby! who needs a steering wheel?

What Ridiculous statement the 14.5 LITER 40 PSI SUPER CHARGED V8 BILLET MONOBLOCK monstrosities they call nitromethane drag engines make 7000 hp and in the world of the top fuel dragster, have run a fastest time of 4.473. This integra has run a 4.678. Its almost as fast because its so much lighter than the top fuel frames with have to be so huge because they have near 15 liter engines hanging the front.
This car is an engineering achievment that is vastly better than the top fuel cars. :mrgreen:

I think these engines 500 CI which is about 8 liters not 14.75? their power per liter is very similar and it is done with push rods. These cars limited by the tires anyhow not the power of the engine. And the integra is still slower.

The Smallest Engine used in Top Fuel drag racing or Funny Cars, is the new 13.4 Liter V-8 that toyota is using. The reason they use pushrods is because the rules say very specifically "Must be standard Mono-block Pushrod actuated design." Im not sure, but I think they still use 2 valve heads...... they are not amazing achievments, they havnt hardly changed in the last 15 years..... the only reason toyota is even making pushrod engines is so it can compete in sports like Nascar and Top Fuel. :roll:
