Look how the smart crashes into the concrete! Amazing how the cage of the car keeps it's shape, but as driver you wouldn't be happy.

The passenger cage of the Smart impressively still is quite intact. But the interior is shredded into pieces :shock: Quite an impressive thing to see.

But when comparing to a normal small car, they should have compared it with a newer car, not with an old Corsa. This isn't really a fair comparison.

The cage of the Smart is very very hard...
I know a guy that bought a crashed one to rebuild.. and when he was trying to strech the chassis, he broke 2 belts one the machine...
The guy never saw anything like that, and sometimes he streches chassis from trucks!!!

my mum's thinkin of gettin a smart forfour, but i was not so sure bout the safety, now i'll have no objections if she decides to buy it next year!

Wonder how Dale Earnhart felt when his car rapidly decelerated crashing into that wall at Daytona..Now I see how he could have died from that impact..70 miles per hour was brutal, just think how 170 would have been..Crazy..Good video..

I once crashed at 60km/u as passenger in a peugeot 307, it spinned round and with the left front door into a metal pile. That was a hell of a crash already, all the airbags came out. But a crash at 70 miles/hour.... :shock:

Although it's very hard for someone to get out of that in good condition. The car did it's job in staying in shape and trying to protect the driver..

I onces hit a stand still truck in my ( use to be ) BMW X5 at 120km/h and luckly I hit it and then the car just turned the other way around.. I can't remember it because I fainted... I probebly fainted fromt he gforce I got from the first impact ..But Good thing it was an X5

Sometimes in accidents luck plays a big factor. A friend of mine was hit in a frontal offset collision, and the whole drivers side area was crushed. Yet somehow he walked away from it. The paramedics came and saw the car, and said to him "wheres the driver?", expecting to be pointed to a corpse.... but my friend said "uh.... its me!". Freaky s**t.

And that is why small cars arent good. You need a bigger crumple zone than that. I think my car would have done better than both of those.
