Launch of limited-edition Maybach transporter model train
Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH is set to unveil an exclusive H0-gauge model Maybach car transporter train. This “classic of the future” will be produced in a limited edition of 1500 units worldwide. The train consists of a V200 locomotive and four container wagons carrying a total of ten Maybach 57 Saloons. Each of the lavishly hand-crafted 1:87-scale model cars is housed in its own individual transparent container, recalling the new-generation Maybach’s spectacular world premiere.
Powered by a Maybach diesel engine and fitted with a Maybach transmission, the V200 multi-purpose locomotive – in operation during the 1950s and 60s – is firmly embedded in the history of the brand. The model V200 is produced by the company Märklin and, in accordance with Maybach specifications, given an ivory paint finish and original-style Maybach logo and lettering. The locomotive is a reminder of Maybach’s heritage, whilst the cars “on board” embody the brand’s future. The five container wagons contain ten Maybach 57 Saloons in all. Supplied by model maker Herpa, each miniature has been handsomely hand-crafted and represents a meticulously precise reproduction of the full-size car – from the free-standing Maybach emblem on the chromed radiator grille, the silver trim elements and true-to-the-original wheels to the interior fixtures and fittings. This attention to detail and the range of four original two-tone Maybach paint finishes create a high-quality impression.
The Maybach 57 models are housed in glass containers based on those used to transport the first new-generation Maybach to New York aboard the Queen Elizabeth II for its sensational world premiere in 2002.
The limited edition of just 1500 units will earn the “classic of the future” instant cult status within the ranks of collectors and enthusiasts. The Maybach car transporter train will be available from selected specialist outlets and Mercedes-Benz sales partners from December priced at €499.00.
