YAY! It was so strange, BMW keeping saying there won't be a Z4 M :D

no Z4 M ... think about it. It's one of their nicest designs in many years, and they wouldn't make an M version of it...
not very likely :-)
Glad that it's coming, the sooner the better. Will love to see Tiff doing an BMW M3 style review of this beast!!

Just buy a standard Z4 3.0 and send it to Hartge who convert it to a 5.0, 400bhp monster :)

The M version... finally. I was trying to read the article there and instead of seeing 343 bhp, i saw 543 and i was like whoa! 543 on a little roadster would be sweet.

As overpriced as the standard one's are i don't even want to know what they'll want for that.

Any M version of any bmw is just a natural progression isn't it? I mean did we really think that they wouldn't create the wonderful bliss that is the M for the z4?

Wait till the new M5 arrives, so Hartge can fit your Z4 with a V10

Isn`t the scan from autocar mag?

me as an Z4 owner i couldn`t either say that Z4`s sales figures are poor, because when i bought it, i´ve had to wait for a long time because they were sold out in the whole country ( with the specs i wanted...)
and when you`re talking to BMW they also say that the Z4 is selling really well ( i´m talking about the european market, like austria, germany...) why not, it`s probably even faster that a E46 M3, e.g. Motorvision track test...
i´m quite sure that there`ll be a ///M - version....

I hope they make this car- I didn't know that the waiting list for an M3 was still so long, but hopefully the production of this car won't get in the way.

If those pics are anything to go by, BMW has to improve the
front end on all of their new M cars. The old front ends were so
smooth and aggressive, the new ones are down right tacky and
have little or no aggression at all. :| In fact the front on this one
makes it almost look as if the car is, dare I say, "frightened". :o  :(

Of course there will be a Z4 with M-specs!
What do they mean by "...that split the BMW board"?

I think that front spoiler air dam is a little too aggressive. It should be soo fast though, so sweet! 8)

things out of the same cars styling. :? :D

A bmw series without a M version. Almost unheard off. They will definatly release one, they just take their time till the Z4 standard version sales drop.

It would be criminal for BMW to not have an M version of the Z4. Initial feasability discussions surrounding the economic aspects of engineering such a vehicle by BMW's beancounters led them to believe that there wasnt a strong business case for a high-powered roadster of the Z4's ilk.
However, discussions restarted and viewpoints readjusted after BMW and many other companies took note of the runaway success of Mercedes' SL 55 AMG (funnily enough, a high-powered roadster), resulting in many of these afore-mentioned M prototypes doing testing at the Nurburgring and various public roads (lots of spy pics around, wont add anymore).
Styling wise on that pic, i think it looks just right, just enough aggression, and not too much. The Z4 is one the of the best-looking BMWs ever, and the M treatement wil surely do it justice.
Thre will definitely be a Z4 M. Count on it. And it'll definitely be worth the wait!

I know, 45k Pounds will work out to $53,658 US Dollars (w/ 4.13.04 conversion rates). That is a lot of money!!!
But I do agree with most people here, the Z4 is definitely one of the best execution of the "Flaming Surface" designs on all of the new BMWs.

You cant call the Z4 overpriced. I mean, if you want to say that is overpriced, then so is the Porsche Boxster, and the Audi TT. it's 30 grand, and for a driving experience more exclusive and 'exciting', shall we say, than your average supermini.

True, I mean in regards to the competition it is right there. But I still think it is a big expensive for the Z4 3.0, based price of $40k then with added options are you looking at least $50k. Too expensive. It is kinda like the iPod Mini, $250 for 4GB, if you think about it that is pretty expensive. But in terms of everything else that is offered, it is right there with the competition.
Well apparently they are also thinking about making a Z2 that will satisfy us that are a bit tight in the back pocket.
