What browswer are you using. The quick reply smilies are javascript so if you have javascript turned off on your system or your using a browser that interprest javascript different than say IE you might have issues.
I have heard on my own forums people running opera, mozillia and netscape sometimes have issues with the javascript buttons in quickreply.
I have also heard from people using the same browswers say it works fine for them.
I use IE so I cant help with as to why one install works and another install of the same browser does not.

I'm using mozilla 1.5 rc2 (sep 25 build) and it works fine
How does this "quote selected" thing work anyway?
I second changing the post notification thing to different colour too, it'll be easier to read. But nice site overall, took no more than a minute to get used to

How does this "quote selected" thing work anyway?
Its easy.
First highlight some text anywhere on the page you want to quote.
Then while its highlighted click the quote selected button and it will put the quote tags around the text you had selected within your message window.

Hi, TT.
Hope Jabba comes by soon to take a look at the live version.
p.s. can someone click logout for me and tell me if it logs them out. I cant logout but I think it has to do with me changing my timezone. Loging out works on my webserver where i was working on the new layout.
He is on now :)
And nope, I can't log out ...
Damn thats cool... Default colous etc are perfect..
and absolutely quick reply is perfect but.......

Great job so far fishfreek...and damn quick as well...thanks so much for everything :D :D :D

BTW, also 1zippo1 has the problem with every carachter he types... and he said he had the same problem on every board using this kind of forum! Very strange...
I have the error only here.. Other forums like this quick replys are works fine for me...

Ok, I've found a way to still post stuff on jabbasworld, first I have to type it into a text editor
and then copy paste it. Kinda annoying, but a lot less annoying then having to click away a box every
time I type something.
I don't know why I have to problem, tried to fix it but I think only a reinstall of windows will help.
So I'll do just that when I'll find the time for it.
About the changes: the front page looks a lot cooler and modern. The colours are maybe a bit light but
the biggest advantage is that the view of the forum is now more clear, also easier for new members I think.
So jabba & fishfreek, thx a lot for all the effort you've put into this great site!!!!

Whats the error zippo or what does it do? Is this with the quick reply only or with the standard reply form aswell?
We did do a site wide upgrade from 2.0.4 to 2.0.6 in the process of doing this.

No, it isn't such a problem as I expected!! Still thx for your help guys.
After having explored the new site a bit more, I must say I like the new features like the announcements at the beginning => less users will ask stupid questions about spamming/video access/...
The feature that lets you check all the posts made since your last visit.
And some other nice things!!!
now the problems about the line 799

For those having problems with Script Errors - You need to Disable 'Script Debugging' in IE

One small question: I've noticed that the posts I haven't read are marked darker.
I'm glad we still have this feature but the sometimes the black cubus even gets bigger and smaller... why does it do that? Is it because it's something new? Or is it the last thing you've read???
Jabba
10-05-2003, 02:04 PM
If you scroll to the bottom of the page Zippo there is a key to all the different icons....the one you refer to means hot top btw
If the little square/cube moves, it's because it's an "hot" discussion :)

Hi Jabba and Fishfreek,
Good work, although at first it was a bit of a shocker. It's very different.
I don't mind the light colours, it's a little easier to read. The quick reply function is excellent and being able to quote smaller parts of a post without having to delete manually is great too. I also like the gender and age thing.
I haven't looked at the multimedia section yet, but I'm getting curious now.
No problems so far, only the fact that it seems slower than the old forum.
EDIT: holy crap, I'm a light weight now...
Jabba
10-06-2003, 05:25 AM
Yep I noticed a big drop in speed this morning....maybe the other themes will be quicker though...

The basic page and multimedia section are great, but i had a little problem uploading more than 1 photo at a time (got SQL error, then multiple entries).
New forum looks and functions (quick reply) are much, much better than before. I think the forum is a bit slower, but not always - but it seems that it's not connected with number of posts in a topic or something similar. All in all - great improvement, thanks Jabba&Co!!!

Right now the speed is fine. I was downloading at the time, but it was slower than usual while downloading.
The multimedia section doesn't log me in automatically (I think this has been reported already), then when I return to the forum I have to login again. Usually I don't have to. Even the front page said I was online at the time, which is a bit strange when you still need to log in.
Small detail: the page numbers at the bottom don't tell you what page you're currently reading.
I forgot to mention earlier that I'm glad you didn't change the system and categories of the forum.

Only work around I have come up with so far is to keep two browsers open one for the the multimedia section the other for the main page....

you can upload anything you like (inc videos) but they have to be zipped first...

yeah i had not used winzip to zip thing before until about an hour ago. handy little thing. yeah thanks, it is really generous for you to do all of this, it really brings together a free community that other wise wouldn't exist.

The new style might be a little more bandwidth intensive than the old style. Im not sure as I have not used the old 'cobalt' style on any other site but i think jabba is going to have that one incorporated back into here.
At the bottom of the page with the page numbers. If you look one number will be black and the others will be that other shade (i cant tellya cause i dont know what color it is). The black page number is the one your viewing. its also the page number thats not a link if you hover your mouse over it.
The gallery thing is a hassle I know but the issue is that the cookies are different for the two components cause one is installed on the .com version of the domain and the other is installed on the .net of the domain.
The reason your still listed as being online when you come back while you have to login is because depending on what list your looking at on the home page it either lists people who have logged in today or people who have logged in over the last 5 min. If your looking at the top list that says X people have logged in today and X over the last hour then that list refresh's every day at midnight. If your looking at whos online now then that list is refreshed every 5 min. So the people on that list might have been online 4:50sec ago or might be online this very second.

If I watch it very closely I see it now, but the difference is too small. I'll go over it with the pointer then. As I said, it's only a detail, not really important.
Thanks for your explanations! 8)
