That must be a way of reducing the power im guessing?

must be a early 03 model then

Yep I see, you might be right. Subaru like most cars companies bring out next year models mid year at the begining of the new financial year. So I guess it would have 02/03 stamped on the chassis, thats its an 02 built in the first half of 03. Mine is the model a year later the 03/04.

why would that reduce power? if anything is would just shift the power band. I works better on NA motors, mainly b/c turbos still need some backpressure in the exhuast.

I like the idea.. ??

Anybody noticed the top screw getting unscrewed when he is on the throttle.. .. That's a quality fit

This would work just fine and would make the turbo spool faster. There is no back pressure needed in a turbo car unless there is some sort of boost creep issue. The turbine creates all the back pressure the motor needs. N/A motors are the ones that need a little back pressure, Certain cars, depending on the cam timing, with a very good flowing exhaust can over scavenge and acctually pull the incoming air fuel mix out of the cylinder and into the exhaust therefore reducing torque and horsepower.
