I remember RC45 saying a while back when someone was having trouble with their hard drive that with NTFS format that you need to have atleast 25% free space for the HD to run at a decent speed. I have a 160 gig sata for my boot drive and a 250 gig sata set up as a slave drive without a raid configuration..do I still need to have 25% free on the 250 gig for it to be able to run at a decent speed or do I have to worry about space at all as a slave drive?

Don't worry about that, I think RC45 was probably thinking about the MFT (master file table) which is stored in the "free" space. The main reason to keep the extra free space is to prevent fragmentation of the table. There's no reason you should be paranoid about this, *any* modern drive will provide more than ample performance for general use even under low free space situation. Half of my partitions are constantly over 90% used and they work fine. I would be more worry about other problems like fragmentation file ;)
