I am sure alot of ppl have a hobby of saving good images from the web onto the computer rite? Thru out years and years of collecting...how do u guys sort the pictures? What kinda system do u guys use? By manufacture then by model? What if chicks are involve in car pics =P~~?

I use a simple method..

motors > high-res pics > and inside here, by manufacturer, period :D, plus a folder where there are copies of my own pics (wich are also in the other folders).. then it's just

Manufacturer Model 002.jpg
Manufacturer Model 003.jpg
Manufacturer Model 004.jpg
...

if the babe is just an accessory, I simply put the pic in there as a regular car pic :P

I have two systems :

For the events or the "what you saw today" I use a lot of folders (one per event) and I usually don't rename the pics, that works quite good

For the press/various pics (for example wallpapers from fast-autos, highresautoimages ...) I rename them Manufacturer_model(1).jpg and put them in 2 folders, one with the letters A-L and the other M-Z
I do the same with tuned cars Pictures>>tuning>>riced-up or famous tuners :wink:

Edit : when chicks are involved, I put them in a special folder which isn't easy to find :P

i generate galleries using photshop =)

that and i generally sort the pics by car manufacturer then model
regardless of any chicks in the pic, cause you know...its the car thats important ;)

HAHA, I spend hours time ago renaming most of my pics from 01, 02... to 001, 002, 003... and now for some models like Enzo or 360 I am coming closer and closer to the 999.. I fear I won't be able to rename all of them from 001 to 0001 ... I would go crazy!

LOL!!!! try use a script with those...or just use Excel VBA...I usually do that when tons of files are involved.

You forget I am a noob, and even if PC are usually used to automate stuff, I prefer to go the manual way :D

Use batch renaming with ACDSee.. Takes some seconds to rename all of them..

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't feel like installing a whole program just for some renaming ;) I wonder if there is something like that in Photoshop.. hell, afterall it does a LOT of thing, why not a mass renaming? LOL I doubt it though...

LOL...I do exactly the same :D:D:D With the Modena I'm on *checks* 772 and growing fast!!

I categorise them my manufacturer, then model and then I just name tyhe pics 001,002,003 etc. My collection consists of over 13000pics covering over 2GB's of HDD space.

Just installed ACDSee, it has one of the fastest thumbnail generation engine I've seen. Not bad not bad.

Also PS can quickly generate thumbs ;) and now that I found the mass renaming tool, no need to install another program that will only risk to mess up my delicate Win98

BTW a nice trick if you use Windows XP is...

Select all of the pics that fall under one same category (ex same car all in diff positions) Then right click on 1 of the files and click RENAME. Name the file and add (1) at the end including parenthesis... all other files will be renamed to the same as that file but the number between parenthesis will change!

a mass renaming tool in ps? where is that?

You know, the file browser thing on top right, where you can surf folder watching at little thumbs.. well there, you select the files you want to rename once you are in the given folder, you then right click and choose "batch rename".. then you insert the parameters and you are set :) nice and clean!
