Besides the topic "Flags which represent each members country" texted by me yesterday in this section, i decided to create the topic called "languages which represent each members country" in a similar way in order to get some fun

In order to achieve this topic, the best thing to do IMO is just to get a written text (whatever the text contains) by each member in english, and then get the same text translated into his or her mother tongue language

Ill start...there you go my text:

IN ENGLISH

Hi....Im Ford Capri 2.8i, im a JW member from May two thousand and four, i live in the Basque Country, i feel basque, and this region is quite an interesting place to visit, since im surrounded by marvellous mountains and scenery

THE SAME TEXT TRANSLATED INTO BASQUE (My first language)

Kaixo.....Ford Capri 2.8i naiz, JWko bazkidea naiz bi mila lauko maiatzatik, Euskal Herrian bizi naiz, euskalduna sentitzen naiz, eta lurralde hau nahiko interesgarria da bisitatzeko zeren mendi eta paisai zoragarriez inguratuta nago.

Ill be waiting for your answers

Hmm ... I don't have any imagination so I will copy your english text

Hi, I'm Darkel, a JW member from January two thousand and four, I live in France, in a region called Alsace, not far away from the german border, it's a beautiful place with kind people, it is also well known because of the wine

I could also write it in our dialect, but it's harder

Well, interesting topic. I only speak english, but my mum is iranian. I looked for an iranian translation but the closest I could find was turkish. Whatver!

IN ENGLISH:

I Live in Australia, and here everybody speaks english. Thats because when you are an island in the middle of nowhere, there is less incentive to learn other languages!

IN TURKISH:

I yaşamak içinde Avustralya , ve burada herkes konuşmak İngiliz. adl. şu çünkü ne zaman sen are an ada içinde belgili tanımlık ortadaki -in hiçbir yerde , var be. daha az dürtü -e doğru öğrenmek diğer dil!

I don't really care about other people's languages, as I can't understand them anyway, but I'll translate this into norwegian if it means so much to you..

Hi, my name is Wouter, and I come from Belgium. I live in Flanders (the Dutch speaking part), were the first language is Dutch. However, Belgium has three official languages: Dutch, French and German. Nothing really interesting to find here, except beer :)

In Dutch (the real Flemish language isn't official, but that doesn't matter cause it's almost the same as the Dutch language)

In French (or Walloon). Sorry for the few linguistically mistakes, my French isn't as good anymore as it use to be.

In German. I really suck at it.

Man findet hier wirklich nichts interessant, ausgenommen Bier natürlich :)

Mexican, i'm from USA, specifically, southern California.

You're Mexican from USA? I would have predicted something else from your nick :D No connection to Sweden?

Actually, i was merely implying that Southern California, as well as other states is becoming hugely Mexican-speaking. I wouldn't be surprised if Mexican becomes a second official language of USA in couple of years. Not that i want it that way.

By the way, I distinguish Mexican from Spanish in the same way I distinguish American from English. No offense. I'm anal like that.

ENG
Hi. My alias is Heilsvenska and I come from Southern California of United States of America. I joined JW December of 2003. I live near Disneyland and LA. The land's flat and is nearly featureless. But the mountains can be accessed pretty easily. What's great is the long stretched of beach where surfers without jobs do what they can do...surf all day.

Hola.

I myself do not speak Spanish so I used the incompetant translator system. What i can speak, though, is some French and German.

there are almost 10 million people speaking that language...

There are about 10 million people understanding and perhaps speaking catalan but pitily many of them don't use it as the first option.

It's a mix of french, italian and spanish...

It's just a romanesque language, and that's why it is similar with these other languages, but it is not a mixture of those other languages...

Sorry for the corrections... I know you have done this simplification for a better understanding but I have to say something about catalan also... :D
