Add to My Calendar
Series in which celebrities trace their ancestry, discovering secrets and surprises from their past. Jeremy Clarkson goes in search of a family fortune and on the way charts the rise and fall of British manufacturing from mid 19th to mid 20th century, through the Kilner Glass company. It was set up by a distant ancestor and did very well, but went bust in the 1930s.
Jeremy wants to know what went wrong and where his inheritance went.

Nice, JC just hopped out of the cab on a street i ride along every day! Shame i never saw him! Looks like it was filmed during the summer tho, far to sunny for england recently!!!
EDIT: Just finished, what a very interesting programme, its raised my opinion of JC, he is actually a very intelligent, funny, quick witted guy, i thought a lot of his humor was put on. This gave an insight into the life of JC as well as him tracing his family history, showing him with his family at the end.
Overall i enjoyed it, and it was interesting to see the rise and fall of the glass making industry in britain, and that the Kilner Glass name lives on in a current product!

Ah, now you mention it i do think i saw it, it was a documentary on the victoria cross and in particular the recipients, on guy i think was battling tanks whilst blinded by explosions etc in WW2, and got the victoria cross.
Yeah, top documentary. :) No need to put it up if it was going to be just for me. Cheers
Yes you got it ;)
But since the plan is to havy any JC video up, it was a shame not to have that one anymore :D so it's going up :P

It is just the best clarkson ever that victoria cross documentary..... i don't want to get all sentamental on you guys but he really does the same as his car videos in that he conveys his emotion and the way he feels about something or someone across so well and really brought home what special people win this honour.
As for tonights programme i'm sad i missed it i have to confess i stopped working and watched a film with some mates..... completely forgot
Hehe you will be able to watch it thanks to JW :P

Wow , i wonder how big is JW server , having EVERY clarkson video up ? Even the 3 past series of top gear ? ( the n4 is up )
So were getting better quality ones ? Or the first Jabba WMV rips ? I love the actual quality , because of the widescreen
Big enough :D don't worry.
As for vids, of course everything will be done to improve quality on older ones sooner or later... just not sure when the schedule will allow it ;)

Yes its not a must do ... i think everybody got the full collection as i did , but maybe after this series some better quality rips of the old ones would be welcome
Im actually thinking in buying a DVD writer , i wonder how would be the quality of burning a full season in 1 4.7dvd ? It would be THE SAME as the DIVX encoded video ? I meant burning it in a 4.7dvd but playable on a standard ntsc DVD player .

Or you could buy a divx dvd player like me..... makes it much easier as all your JW files play directly from your Cd/ dvdr backups :D much quicker/ simpler IMO

Yes but i would prefer converting em to NTSC mpeg or Mpeg2 , dont want to spend 50 quid in a divx dvd player when i can spend half a quid for a blank media :D

True True, but for me i took ages to do this and to get right using TMPGEnc, maybe with other software may be easier.

Did anyone catch Clarkson when he was on Parkinson not long ago? He was pretty funny. I ripped it (30 mins, 150MB) if anyone wants it.

There would be no increase in the quality if I understand the question correctly...just because you have put it onto DVD and watching it on your TV.

Yeah i saw that on TV, its one of a few recent appearances that clarkson has made that have raised my oppinion of him, he came across as a very confident witty guy. The same as when i saw him on Question time a few weeks ago, despite his lack of political knowlege!!!

I look forward to this. At the moment i have only the last two series, and clips from the others. :?
Well Jabba, i guess your comp is back up to full speed now... your postin'n'hostin at an alarming rate.
BTW - do you keep the original capture files? And how big is 1hr capped straight from the Sky Box?
