I'm on site at a customers facility (so no pics allowed) - in Boston - and I was very surprized at the number of outspoken Bush supporters this morning.
It seems a number of people just kept their opinions to themselves until after they cast their vote.

Me and the wife voted this morning at quarter till 6. In and out in 15minutes. I dont belive photos are allowed within the polling places unless its a member of the press. There are always representives from either party outside the polling place handing out literatre, etc. We had our baby with us and the Kerry supporters where more concerned with shoving literature down our thorats where as the Bush supporters where more interested in teh baby.
We voted Bush!

The tax for a house costing £ 0 - £60,000 is ZERO
The tax for a house costing £60,001 - £250,000 is 1 %
The tax for a house costing £250,001 - £500,000 is 3 %
THe tax for a house costing over £500,000 is 4 %

Not to tempt you - but Texas has no state income tax - and the Federal Income tax rates (for 2003 - slightly better numbers for 2004) range from 10% to a maximum of 35%...
And to qualify for the 35% tax bracket you need ot be raking in a healthy $311,951 or more - of TAXABLE income.. :P
You enter the 25% tax bracket at $28,401 - $68,800 as a single bloke.. and the 28% bracket at $68,801 - $143,500 and thenget into the 33% bracket at $143,501- $311,950 ...
So - when can we see you over here.. ? ;)

Well - it will range from city to city. The state rate is 6 1/4% (.0625) and then cities and counties pay also impose a small 0.002% or so tax.
But if you don't spend - you don't pay.. ;)
Remember, Texas taxes the oil and gas that is pumped and drilled out the ground - this is how everything is pretty much paid for around these here parts.
You pay property tax directly to your school district - which helps pay for schools and other dictrict services - but then only if you own property.

Well the mandatory appeals process will keep you alive and kicking for a few years - and with current DNA technology helping get those railroaded by the system years ago, out - you have a good chance.. :)
Also remember - MANY of the folks on death row are career criminals - you seldom hear of "mistaken white collar guys that were in the wrong place at the wrong time" - unless there is HUGE suspicion around the guy - like his wife and kid ended up dead in the Bay while he is out fishing.. ;)

I believe thats how it works where my sister lives. (Washington State) Well, except the oil part obviously. They pay no state income taxes, but everything they buy is taxed. It's the opposite here, neccessities like food and clothing are not taxed. There are exceptions though. Candy, soda, fast food and such are taxed as they aren't a neccessity.
So, since you don't pay  Does that mean you grow you own food and make all of your clothes out of hemp grown in your garage?
The school district is pretty much the same here. I wouldn't know, I'm an apartment dweller. If I owned a home, I'd pay for the very school I went to. Like they need it though. Right now, the High School I went to is planning a multi-million dollar extension, while downtown, a couple schools were closed. But remember, No Child Left Behind!!

LOL, don't confess your love to another woman either. She might come to testify.
RC, was it Texas that was recently having some problems related to old cases verses new DNA technology? I saw a show about a week or two ago where one lab was being torn apart and old cases re-evaluated because of crappy work done by it's employees. I think it was Texas, but I'm not 100% sure.

That doesnt really mean much. Those are all of the states that Bush won back in 2000. The states that matter are still being tallied up. All it takes is Kerry to win Florida, California, New Hampshire, or a couple of the swing states and he will catch up really fast.

Well they need 270 votes to win. He has like 195 right now. Florida is like 34 votes. So if Bush won Florida that would be a huge boost for him. That would put him at about 229. It wouldnt automatically allow him to win, but it would make it much easier for him to win.
