its not just the jacket... a number of years ago now, i saw those same vids, and research.

its a projected image of what is behind the person, and the camo would then only be one sided, and not quite look right when close to the subject

just a university study... nothing that life changing.

however, optics like this... marginally like this are being developed in westernized countries... US, GB, FR etc.

but since we have more $$ financed, France wont see a thing

This technology has been studied for years for military use. For several years, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) which is supported by the Defense Department, have been looking into this Adaptive Camouflage. The US Army and Air Force have been keenly interested in this as well. Lets look at the potential benefits of such technology. When an aircraft flies at high altitude, such as a spy plane like the old SR-71 or like the B-2 stealth bomber; these aircraft tend to stick out like a sore thumb if a person would visually look up from the ground and see these craft flying overhead at high altitudes in the daytime. And black is the worst color of all. Also, I could see the benefits at lower altitudes as well. With the advent of 'stealth' technology, visual camouflage and trickery is still being pursued aggressively to this day. With a lot of aircraft operating at lower altitudes performing mission strikes, sometimes the right paint scheme can save a soldier's life in a firefight. Case in point, look at some of the photo's of an F/A-18 Hornet. A lot of them have a painted fake 'canopy' on the underside of the fuselage.

That is used to confuse ground gunners and enemy fighters planes in dogfights. If you saw this plane screaming along at over 500 mph on the deck and started firing at it and you saw that fake bubble, you would more than likely would not expect it to pull a -9 g turn, but then it does and it screws up your firing lead. Here's the scoop on that technology that was used in that clothing.

It's a pretty ambitious and typically arrogant military concept.. ;)

One of the flaws I can see in just casually observing the concept- is that the system has no idea from what angle/inclination I am observing the cloaked object.

http://img41.exs.cx/img41/646/adaptivewhat.jpg

in a top down situation, observers 1, 2 and 3 would each expect to see a different back ground.

In this simple example the flat sides of the cloaked object could sort of project the correct images to observers 1 and 3 - however, observer 2 would very quickly tell that the odd skew image of the area observer 1 should be seeing is what he is seeing, rather than what he (observer 2 \) expects to see.

This should go the same place they put the $10,000 hammers and $20,000 toilets.

That looks like a good ol' CF-18. The F-18 is used for a variety of mission types by the Canadian millitary. They came up with the fake canopy during the cold war. A very low tech, low cost trick. When you are the Canadian millitary, I guess you have to use the cheapest visual tricks possible! No fancy stealth for them.

One of the auto manufacturer' have been looking at cars that can change their color, even changing depending on the mood of a driver. I would guess that after a while, when the technology gets less expensive and much improved, I would guess that someone will market it right and use it for clothing or maybe for advertising signs. Hunting gear clothing I could see a market for too.

maybe they can used this technology like predator, but thats future, its possible
