Is this the video of the what older Scooby following Sabine Schmitz in the ringtaxi, captured a few years ago?
I'm pretty much at my download limit for this month. So I'm not going to download 90MB if I already know the vid ;)

Could be! It is a white M5, the video quality is some noise in it, so could be a year or two old.

Yes, you turn up, pay some money, and someone who knows the track inside out drives you around. As you can see, they don't hang about lol

yeah i wish we have something like that for our tracks here in the US. :( but we are just lazy Americans  That scooby is takeing the M5
This is not a new video on the 8200rpm site, but still worth downloading if you don't have the video.

Is the high pitch noise from the Scooby a straight cut gearbox?

sounds a little expensive, but I guess it's worth it.
According to the video... it REALLY worth it! BTW, the best moment is when both cars overtake a Porsche 930...
And it's even more worth it when it's raining

Is the high pitch noise from the Scooby a straight cut gearbox?
Probably. I wouldn't have another explanation.

I already have it, but I just wanted to say I love this video too. The first time I saw it, the little 'moment' at Adenauer Forst scared the hell out of me...

The Porsche wasn't racing- he was letting them pass by keeping on the right side of the road.
That scooby is takeing the M5
Sabine Schmitz, the ringtaxi driver, was driving conservatively because of other drivers on the road.
Here's an interview w/ Sabine from an m5board.com member:
"m5board member: We have seen some videos of people trying to race you and the Ring Taxi. When this happens do you generally try to race them or do you slow down to be on the safe side in the case of them making a mistake?
Sabine: We don’t drive races. I always stay on the safe side. That’s the reason why I never had any accidents. We demonstrate car control and not how to drive races."
Full interview with Sabine at m5board.com (http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=39023&highlight=questions+sabine)
Notice when there wasn't any traffic the M5 started to pull away. Even at the very last part of the clip she was pulling on him on the straightaway. If it were just her and the Scooby, she would rip it to shreds- I mean come on, she knows the ring inside and out and she is respected among many professionals- there's no way some guy in a scooby would take her.

That's not the full size version. I don't know if I have it on my PC. But I'll look for it, and if I don't find it, I'll ask my friend when he's back in the country.

More power to the scooby. And i didn't mind looking at the M5's ass the whole. Great vid, and i concur on the semi slicks^.
sorry, but i gotta say its kinda boring...looks like the m5 is only going at 70%. and another thing, if sabine is so great y does she drive the ring taxi? does she do development work or racing as well?

They have some of the best known ring racers working driving the ring taxi's right now. They make mad bank, like $250,000 a year. Great vid guys! thanks

Another thing I forgot to mention. The tires on that WRX are horribly loud. I have driven on alot of tires, but WRX STI tires have a reputation for being the noisiest tires in the world. Even top gear said "I've never heard so much tire noise from any car we've tested out there! It was astonishing!"
The brand of Potenza they use is currently under going revision to reduce noise without changing performance, but the fact is.... the evo's advans are way better anyway, and run alot more silent.

Just to let you guys know what the Ring Taxi is capable of, that's Hans Stuck driving (with Sabine in the passenger seat)- 3 time winner of the 24 hr Nurburgring endurance race (racing BMW 2002 in 1970, a BMW 320d in 1998, which was the first win worldwide for a diesel engine, and a M3 GTR last June, 2004), raced F1 for Alfa Romeo in '77, and he was the BMW factory driver for the M3 CSL in '75.
Now look at the smile on his face- do you think that he would smile like that in a scooby? I think not-
The fact that this guy is driving the Ring Taxi shows the caliber of the Ring Taxi drivers and how serious BMW is about who gets to drive them.

I have to show you guys this too- look at his wife.

Thought that dude in the WRX was into the armco when he ran wide; must be the worst nightmare for the ring drivers when wannabe racers try to show their skill or lack of.
