OK, I know I'm new here, but be nice and don't bitch at me or anything.
Anyways, I just found out from my parents that they will let me pick out a car for around 25K (US). I like to think that I know enough to make this decision on my own, but there are just too many cars out there, and I haven't driven any of them. Currently my favorites are the B5 S4's, the E36 M3's, and the S2000. I prefer the S4 because of it's tuneability, but I was wondering if there's anything else out there that can be modified for an affordible price... It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some informative feedback. Thanks

I'd say the M3, no question about it what so ever..
But the S4 is also a nice car, and not a very bad choise..
And the Honda, don't even think about when you can get the cars mentioned over! 8)

Why take the M3, it takes a fortune to tune it, why not go for the S4 with turbos already installed. And does anybody know if the 2001 S4 has HID's?
Anybody know of any good test videos of the S4? And what are the performance numbers on it?

I should've paid notice to the "tunability" part of your post.. If its tunability it stands on, then it's probably best to choose the S4, but for the coolness of the car, then M3 all the way! :D

Well there aren't too many S4's where I live, tons of E36's even more E46's... never ever see any B5's or B6's, so I would get the B5 just because nobody drives them, at least around here. But they could always take off the badging and drive as sleepers. You never know until they pass you

aren't you guys overlooking one fact?
Where is he supposed to find a good condition S4 for 25k? I've looked around the net looking up prices and the best i've found is low 30's. If yall know where to find one please let me know.

an ex-coworker of mine has an E30 M3 (he just left and went to work at EVOSPORT in California) he was making enough power to keep up with an E36M3 with 3 passengers.
if i remember right, his S14 was making somewhere near 200HP maybe a little more. I can't remember everything he did to it. He told me that it would be cheaper to get an E30 325 and swap the S52 motor into it and put the M3 suspension on it than what it would be to buy an E30M3 and tune it.

the M roadsters are a kick in the ass! and yes they are reliable at 75K.
the most common problem are the seatbelt tensioners. other that they don't have any problems. But at your age insurance is going to kill you on that car.

I know i am going to be out of the lope, but why not get a WRX or Miata? They are going to be brand new then you can tune them. Or even get a Celica and tune that. Maybe even get a old 240sx and swap the motor. But hey do what you want. I would go buy a Suzuki and hook that up personally. Custom supercharger or turbo. Make that a nice high 13 sec. car and call it a day. 8)

I think you should consider some American muscle for that money. Maybe a Z28 Camaro.

Make sure its the later Z3 M with 321hp, 2001 on I think. Might struggle to find for $25k. Better off with the S4 than a 240 hp Z3 M
Edit insurance is cheap onthe Z3 too, I had a 3.0i and it was not classed as a sports car, but that might apply to the S4 too, probably classed as a sedan...

I have always been partial to Audi's, plus they are a hell of a car when you add in all the turbo modifications. M3, great car as well but you won't be getting the big power increases like you would with the Audi unless you add forced induction. Drive both and then come to a decision, look at prices and availability of aftermarket parts for these cars. After all, it's you who will be stuck with the car if you don't like it.

I am just saying make a sleeper. Forget about the ricer BS. I hate rice. But if you call a 13.8 Aerio SX rice then i will take it. Make a custom turbo for something that no one would think twice about doing one on.

That's what I was going to suggest, but it's a hair over the $25k limit. Maybe you could pursuade them on purchasing this car.

i think you and i, along with Schwalbe 44, Apac, InitialA4, and Sameerrao, must form the "Jabbasworld Audi Attack Club".... :D
LOL yeah we should, we try to make people understand that "Vorsprung durch technik" is the right path...... :P
Absolutely, Audi dominates ! Each time I look documentary about car racing, when they speak about Audi, they always say : The car has unfair advantage of Quattro system + turbocharged engine... This is what I call: Vorsprung durch technik.
"Jabbasworld Audi Attack Club" : Hey everso, that's sounds good, I like that. :D
About your request XxTwstedMethodxX, It's obvious that I suggest to you the Audi B5 S4, for several reason, like the "tunability", because you can easily turn a stock B5 S4 into a sorta RS4. If it's what you wishes here what you need:
http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/images/27tko4_fullkit.jpg
This kit is capable of 412 horsepower and 482 foot-pounds of torque at the flywheel on 93 octane gas, while retaining stock-like drivability. The highlights of the kit include the following:
RS4 KO4 Turbochargers
RS4 MAF and Airbox
RS4 MAF to Turbo Inlet Plumbing and Y-Pipe
RS4 High Flow Fuel Injectors and Fuel Pump
All Associate Plumbing and Hardware

Boxsters and TT's, aren't they both pretty slow cars? I want something with a little bit of a kick to it. But if either of them can be considerably improved for about 3 grand, or less, can you all tell me how. What are their weaknesses. Thanks for all the input so far.

LOL didn't realize that this had two pages already. I like the Ko5 conversion? I think thats what its called, I already looked into it, and I don't honestly think I can afford that while going to college, 6k is a lot for leeching money from my parents. But on the other hand, i know that with a chip, exhaust, and intake, you can make pretty satisfying numbers with an S4. But my only problem is that looking at my neighbors m roadster, and how sexy it looks, makes me want it. I want performance, and beauty. This car is staying with me for a good 4 years, it's gotta look good. No offense to those who think the S4's have great styling, but they look pretty plain to me. Now what about the Boxsters, are they modifiable or what? I never thought that a porsche was in my price range? Same for the TT?
