new information from dealer: m5 customers can look forward to even better performance for the January-march revision of m5. the test cars have still not optimized smg speeds in p500 mode and an early version of the automatic smg version with sometimes bad shift points. until january to march, the improved m5 will be available.
Sounds great, we might see even faster times next year when the final M5 will be tested. But for now 13.9 sec is fast enough :D

Definetely impressive figures but I'm not quite sure the figures will improve. Usually these early press examples are tuned to the max. Don't know if BMW do that but many carmanufacterers do it.

are the times from Auto Zeitung usually pretty quick or slow compared to other reviewers? Like it seems like Car and Driver always has much better times than Road and Track (in the US)...
I can't wait to get that baby in my garage.

this is the only test so far which they really clocked the car.
There is another test in Automotorsport soon.

i mean for other cars. I want to know if I should expect better or worse numbers from other magazines.
Like if it had been R&T instead of Auto Zeitung, i could say that C&D would probably make it go even faster...

Maybe, but remember they use Mph, this Kmh
Im sure will see a lot of tests in the future, with both worse and better times than Autozeitung.

That's very fast, but it's normal for a car of +500hp.

Just_me mentioned an upcoming test in AMS. If he's referring to the comparison between the E60 M5 and the CLS 55, it's already been around for a bit (heft 23, 27 Oktober, 2004).
The comparable times are 0-100 km/h 4.7s (0.3s slower than AZ)
0-160 km/h 10.0s (0.7s slower)
0-200 km/h 14.8s (0.9s slower)
I have suggested in an earlier post that Autocar and/or Car & Driver will figure it in the low 4s 0-60 mph and in the mid to low 12s on the 1/4 mi. We will soon find out.
