As you guys may remember, Recently Audi announced the release of a new Chasis/Body facelift for its A4 and S4 model range. Recently spotted by Autobild.de were some exclusive shots possibly of the new B7 RS4. This clearly wont be the production rather clearly a prototype (note rollcage, 4 point harness etc.) but it still looks very very good. (note: this is clearly at the Nurburgring Race track in Germany, where most european car manufacturers test their cars)

Already kinda cute! Talk about fat muffler :D

Like the rims and the mufflers.. but the front is a little odd. not as 'smooth' as i would like an audi to be.

I love the new fat grills, I like it on this one and even more on the new A6. This looks really good. And I'm pretty sure a new M3 is faster than an S4.

LOL it was bye bye M3 with the S model, with this the M`s will probably not even get a good view of the mufflers.......
what do you mean? S4 with 344hp is slower than M3.

If that is 'just' the ABT, the RS4 is going to rock!
As for the M3 v S4 debate, the S4 has always been quicker in the twisties, some argue it has a better lap time on corner heavy trackes. However, in terms of driver 'feel' it lacks something. In a straight line, I believe the M3 would win, and (this is comming from an audi fan!) the M3 MAY be more fun to drive! I will let you know when I have driven both lol

Looks good with the all black grille although the headlights remind me of someone who has had a little too much plastic surgery around the eyes, lol. It's certainly aggressive though.

Well, yes it's the new RS4 sedan with the N/A 4.2L V8 420 hp. I hope to see the RS4 Avant model soon. I like this new model, even if it's not turbocharged, but it would have been much more faithful to RS tradition if it had been biturbo. Maybe in the future...

I think that a NA engine is a shame to Audi.
Rumors of 15sec. 0-200km/h is not good enough for a car that can't be easy tuned. B5 RS4 with Stage I do better than this.

I'm pretty sure everywhere I've looked sais 0-60 for M3 is around 4.7, and for the S4 it's over 5. I know 0-60 isn't the end all indicator of performance, but still, it's faster. What are the S4 numbers then?

"Just_Me" is wrong...that is NOT the ABT S4, the picture IS the RS4 being tested.
specs on the RS4: 4.2L V8-----420hp.
as for the S4 vs. M3 comparisons....on a track the S4 is the faster car.....acceleration wise, the M3 may be quicker. Both cars are VERY different, however i like the refinement S4 better than the raw aggression of an M3.
NO ITS NOT. Not according to rs6.com. there is a germanguy calling himself Nordschleife. I dont want to be mean but I think he knows better than you.

This is an Abt version of an A/S4. Look at the number plate, its from Kempten.

Idd it's an ABT, since the license plate starts with KE, or Kempten the homebase of ABT.
Wow, that looks excellent, I wonder what trannie it will have...
Rumours say that they have tested 7-speed tiptronic.
I heard this rumour also that they will fit it with a 7-speed automatic. But I also overheard the rumour that Audi/BorgWarner are developing a 7-speed DSG that can handle 700 Nm of torque.

I think it would depend greatly on the course and the conditions thereof as to whether the S4 could hold a candle to the M3. Granted, it is a very quick vehicle, but the weight bias and drivetrain are heavily in favor of understeer rather than neutral or slightly tail-happy handling...both of which tend to be characteristics of quick track-cars. In the real world in wet or icy weather I have no doubt that the S4's quattro drivetrain would pull it leagues ahead of an M3...more to the point, it would pull away from almost any vehicle this side of a Lancer EVO or a Subaru Impreza STi in those conditions. Anyway, I'd be curious to see the source of your S4-quickest track-times and what they were for that matter. I'm a fan of both, but the M3 has always plucked the heartstrings a little stronger for me except in terms of styling.

LOL nope the M3 is a great handling car no doubt, and its loads of fun to drive too, but the fastes way around a bend is not going sideways and this is where the Audi is better in my opinion......
aha, so this is how the game works.

my opinions are based off my experience on the track. S4s are just as tunable, if not MORE tunable than an M3. they do great on the track. Maybe you just haven't seen enough Audis :D
funny, you need to tune your car to beat a M3. Whatever, if it makes you feel better so fine by me.

erm...i didn't say an S4 has to be tuned to beat an M3 on the track. a STOCK S4 can beat a STOCK M3...it happens all the time. Don't just make up stuff to cover your lack of knowledge ;)
and S4s definitely have more tuning potential :D
I have no lack of knowledge, so dont give me that BS.
Of course a S4 can beat a M3, the reason for that is the driver. A volvo S60R can also beat a ferrari.

Sure the new RS4 will be a very fast car and probably will be much faster than the M3 or the M3 CSL, but it won't be able to compete with the new M3/M4 and it won't be able to see the M4 CSL.

Final Tests For RS4
Audi is busy developing the new RS4 around the Nürburgring. The car in these pictures is thought to have a 'non-turbo' 4.2 V8 FSi engine producing around 425bhp.
However, there are rumours that Audi is also working on a 450bhp version, capable of lapping the old Nürburgring under the fabled 8-minute mark. Audi is preparing a seven-speed Tiptronic gearbox for the RS4, utilising its acclaimed DSG technology.
Extensive weight reduction is planned, with many aluminium panels. With deeper grilles and sills complemented by a small rear lip spoiler, the new car continues the traditional RS theme of subtle menace.
Expect deliveries of the saloon to commence some time in the middle of 2005 with Avant versions to follow.
WHY THE HELL ARE THEY USING TIPTRONIC! GOD DAMNIT! This car needs to be manual period.

I understand your disappointment blah, because me also I don't share the new direction of Quattro GmbH. Concerning the RS4, it's hard for me to accept the change between the turbocharged engine to the atmospheric V8. You can think the disappointment which I would have if it were only offered in Tiptronic version.
Personally the best RS4 ever will be always the B5 RS4. It's an icon just like the RS2. I keep hope that in the future Quattro GmbH will be more faithful to RS tradition.

The "new" A4 is a face lifted model or is it a new model?!
The new B7 A4 shares the same frame as the B6, but there is a lot of improvement especially about the engine. The text above summarizes the changes very well.
"The new A4 (internal code name: B7), succumbs to Audi's gaping maw grille, but at least the high style inside continues largely as before. In Europe, a staggering ten different engines are offered, including four diesels, but our engine count remains the same-two for the A4 and one for the S4. Both A4 powerplants are new and feature gasoline direct injection. The base 2.0-liter turbo four makes 197 horsepower (up from 170 hp for the current 1.8T), while the new 3.2-liter V-6 is good for 252 hp, easily bettering the 3.0-liter's 220 hp. The S4's 4.2-liter V-8 remains at 340 horsepower. Five-speed and six-speed manuals again are offered, with a CVT for front-wheel-drive models and a six-speed Tiptronic for Quattros. The new A4 sedan and Avant wagon should land on our shores in March-of 2005, that is-with the S4 to follow a month or so later."

The design is really nice when you can't see the new grille. :D

I kind of like the new grille, maybe cuz it was taken right off the Nuvolari, which was just a sick, sick concept car. I also think there's some history in the shape of that grille, dating back to old audi racers, and the failed attempt to bring it back in the 90's with the Rosemeyer concept. I just hope that they can squeeze that V8 far enough back on that front axle to get a better balance....

RS4... cool
RS8???... Perhaps some M5 competition?
I think audi shoud throw there hat into the ring, perhaps use there W12 technology from the A8 to create the performance to compete with the M5?
Audi's Yacht already stands pretty comparable to BMW's 760i I would like to see some more competition for the upcoming m5.

The A8 has nothing to do with the 5-series that is what the A6 is for. The A8 is a competitor for the S-Class Mercedes and the 7-series BMW.

It's a speculation game with the Industries...and some infos are true, other are not. Personally, I believe everso infos are in the first category.
I want to try me too....For my part, against the E60 M5, Audi is preparing the new 2006/2007 RS6 with the brand new FSI 5.2 litre V-10 bi-turbos (No Lambo engine's inside. Pure Audi motor !) and will provide 550-600 bhp.
This is my forecast of the new engine of the future RS6 this week. :P
Stay tuned...

Yes Yes, i sounded pretty stupid. I was thinking the 6 series was competing with the audi rs6 and the 8's with the bmw 5 series. I should have figured that one out before opening my mouth. Oh well, doush bag, idiot, i have it coming to me. My apologies.

Well the lambo V10 was based on the RS6 R45V V8 so even if they did base it on the lambo it would still be just about all audi :P
But anyway, i wouldnt be suprised if the new RS6 was NA considering thats the way they've gone with the RS4

In fact , an NA V10 was the initial plan as far as I know...So neither would I.
