iPod 4thG vs. 3rdG

i have a 3rd generation iPod and am thinking of getting the new one with the click wheel does anyone have the new one? is it worth the upgrade?

If you need the space it's worth it but if you want to upgrade just for the hell of it it's up to you. A lot of people who migrated from 3G to 4G complained about the exclusion of dedicated buttons.

Also you do intend to upgrade you may want to wait for a few more weeks. There has been rumors that a coloured iPod will come out. If this does happen prices on 4G iPods may drop.

my friend bought a 4g and i was impressed..
It's much better with the click wheel...at least i prefer..

About the colored ones, i think i've seen a black one...not sure if it still exists tho...

I have a 4g IPOD and I love it, I love everything about it except for the battery life...I would check out the new sony network walkman too if you are concerned with battery life...however I prefer the way the ipod looks over the sony..its really just a preference issue. Also for transferring files the ipod is much more versatile

I have had both, and personally prefer the heat sensitive 3rd generation. The 4th is nice just because it has a 12hour battery. If I were you, stay with the older one...

i have the 4th, its a little smaller, is size but you cant tell. I wouldn't upgrade in a hurry, they are exactly the same software wise. wait until the 5th unless you get a 40gig

Bit of a crass generalisation there.

The iPod offeres many features... the basic ones are easily accesible to beginners in portable music players, meaning it is still a great choice, even if you do not plan to extract the full potential.

Bit like a 1 Series (116i) versus a high spec VW. :wink:

I just bought the 4th gen. iPod. I really like it but the battery life is not that long. Oh well, it's still so cool. easy to use.

i still prefer flash memory type players because of their compact size. don't care if i'm only getting a fraction of space compared to a hard disk. i can't use it all anyways. i'm still struggling to fill my 1gb card.
