0-60 on 3.1.... im thinking not much weight there ;)
The R500 has 230bhp, 0-60 in 3.4 and weighs 460, so this must weigh at least the same but probably less because its only 30bhp
Plus the R500 is £3k more... without the amazing new suspension and a great new interior.
Im jus loving this new car!

Well imo, you can't even call that a proper car, its more a bike on 4 weels, but hell, the performance is quite mindblowing.

Goodnight that's ridiculous! I'm not a big fan of the looks, but you can't argue with that performance. I'm curious to see what the quarter-mile is on this car, I can't imagine it beating say, an Enzo, because of it's lack of horsies even though it beats it to 60, I would LOVE to be proven wrong though. What's the official weight? I can't believe they don't list it on the spec sheet.

well the R500 beats the enzo from 0-100-0 and this has got more power so....
Bit odd they dont mention the weight, im hoping its below 500kg

0-60 in 3.1 s.? That's the kind of accelleration that'll make a grown man shit his pants. And it must be a joy on the circuit.

you are probably pulling between 1.5-2.0 g's in forward acceleration. you can figure it out with basic phyisics but i dont feel like it.

i think the new suspension and the reliabilty of the engine is more of an important factor than the greater acceleration.
Either way this is a great step forward for caterham, although i think they maybe should offer a 160/180bhp version for newcomers.
I wonder if they'll still continue with the current SV and R line up to run along side the new CSR?

Isn't that Sprint model or whatever that other thread was talking about 130 HP???? That would be a great beginner model. Why haven't they included pics of the interior they raved so much about? Can anyone find some?

HAHA I just noticed because of the huge time difference on this forum that it has me listed as 20. This is officially the first place where I have seen myself at the age of 20, good stuff.

Hahaha, not quite...2.0g is a lot!
Its around .88g, which is still a crap load all the way through 60mph. :D

yea i guess that was a little much. though i do remember now that i think about it, the lingenfelter vette pulls 1g in 0-60.

look at the pistonheads links for interior pics and vids
The caterham range goes all the way down to a 1.4 105bhp model but i was just thinking they should've released a 160/180 CSR model too.
If i was gonna buy a caterham for the first time id probably go for the R300

I love it 8)
I want one,

Is there no end to Caterham's development!

0-60 in 3.1s..
A slow entry level 600cc motorcycle can do that running on 3 cylinders with a fat 400lb rider... ;)
$10,000 buys a new open class 150hp litre bike that will do 0-60 in 3s or less... so let's not get toooooooooo carried away in praising this almost-car .. ;)

4 wheels and a car engine.... its a car to me :P n a very quick one at that
Plus this will lap a track much faster than any standard litre bike

I am sorry RC I refute that statement ... to accelerate at that speed it calls for a wheelie ... a 400 lb guy will fall of the bike within 50 feet during the wheelie and 60 mph will never be hit :P
Anyways bikes have been better than cars in acceleration and braking but in cornering it could be either - depends on the acuteness of the corners and surface condition.
