I WILL own a caterham at some stage of my life, maybe not that model as it lacks real grunt, but I do think its the best car you can get for performance & handling for the price.....

Not for a purist thats really into driving.
Although all the hot hatches around for the price aren't bad cars, they're hardly the sunday blast/track day car that the caterham is. I dont think anyone has a caterham as their only car but this looks a great second car even if u have a banger as your first. Obviously if u want only one car then a clio 182, or type r would be better. But for the money you cant get a better driving experience than a caterham ;)
Plus i've never seen a hot hatch with one years free insurance which is a great bonus when buying a performance car

Exactly.
I want one.
But yes, disapointing top speed. (Due to close gearing)
My 1.4 106 can make 120 downhill with the wind behind it.
Also @ £19,950.00.
For me, thats Elise money??? Or at least a few other options.

But then this car isn't about topspeed, it's about cornering speed. And it's very good at doing just that ;)
I frankly don't think you can find a lot 100bhp cars that can run faster laps than this Caterham.

Personally, ... I would save up for the R300 though ...
Tool around in a small car - 106 whtever in my early driving years and go thru the expensive insurance phase... After that buy this honey

not fast enough to overcome the fact that its one of the most uncomfortable cars in the world. not worth it in my opinion.

It isnt worth it if you are contemplating day-in day-out driving. But for weekends and the occasional track days a Caterham (R300 and up) is incomparable

Also considering the fact that if you get in an accident you'll be killed instantly. A great track day weekend car, as said before but a better compromise between the track day beast and daily driver would have to be the elise IMO.

I would love to have one of these to mess around with on the weekends, but I would want the higher output engine.
I'd be happy with a sub 5.5 sec 0-60 time.
Going 0-60 in 6.5 isnt too inspriring, but the twisties would be fun.
Cheers,

I agree with that. A Caterham is quite useless as every day cruiser. But even an Elise is very hard to live with every day.
