View Full Version : Cricket - Australia in India
i've searched and can hardly find any trace of any cricket on JW at all!!
so with the india-australia series starting tmrw, thought might be a good idea to start a cricket topic on the series
sachin is most likely to be out! noooooooo!!! but ponting is out of aussie squad which is sort of a consolation.
i hope dravid gets a good amount of runs, and hopefully a double century like he has gotten in his last 3 test series!
anyway, Go India!!!

Good idea, I think we won't get many European & North American in here.
Why are you going for India?
I won't be able to watch any of the tests, since its only on Foxtel and not free-to-air TV. :( That might be a good thing though, otherwise I wouldn't find any time for studying for exams.
My tip is for the series to finish 1-1.
^ i'm actually indian but i live in sydney, so of course i'll be goin for india! 8)
u think u got it bad? i got foxtel right in my room but i gotta study for exams!!!! it's so shit!!!! the 2nd test will be on smack bang in the middle of my exams!!!! and ofcourse it will be finished by the time i have a few days off in between exams!! grrrrrrr!!! :x :x
i reckon it will go 2-1 india's way jus cos we got the spinners, the aussies really shoulda taken macgill. but hey, i ain't complainin :P

i died after the world cup final! everyone sayin 'hey aks, did u catch the match last nite? i believe australia won and india lost!!' or jus sayin 'hmmm....i love the score 359/2'
u can just imagine wat will happen if australia win this series, i'll have to run away and hide!

cricket...you gotta know what a crumpet is to understand cricket
boohoo...who ever wins cricket still makes the world goto sleep. anyone who lacks sleep, cricket is a good natural sleep therapy.

I agree that it can get boring at times, but its not like I sit and watch an entire match from start to finish (well not anymore anyway). :D
i can only watch a full match if india is playin, otherwise i can see how borin it can get
but as long as india is playin i'll watch as much as possible
many time's i've gone to skool after only havin 2hrs sleep because there was a cricket match the nite before involving india :D

cricket is cool,
i hope australia will win, maybee we can settle for a tie.
althoe that indian pitch looks real nasty!!
maybe faster then our own "WACA"
dingo
10-05-2004, 09:43 AM
I thought they made the pitch suitable for their spinners (Kumble and Singh), therefore it would be slow...not fast.

Australia is only taking one spinner, because typically in India, we do better with our pace line-up on their wickets. This is what Tony Greig was talking about this morning. :)
Have any of you guys heard of the 12th Man, (the comedy skit..)?

Great that the series is on any TV at all after the rights problems!
Sad that Sachin is not playing, he is an amazing player, is he out for the whole series?
Did anyone see umpire Billy Bowden trip over the helmet and drop all the stuff he was carrying today? The guy is a crack up, got to love those signals! :D
I don't care about who wins really, just want to see some top cricket and close matches.
Stuart Magill should be there; is this a result of his brave stand against the tour of Zimbabwe?
How old is Anil Kumble???? Seems like he has been playing forever! Great bowler, crafty as hell!
Hope Clark gets to 100, would be great in his first test and give him alot of confidence.
Well done to Katich as well, that was a gutsy effort under pressure.

he's about 33/34 i think, but congrats to him on 400 wickets! he did really well in australia. india's best bowler ever in my opinion
yeh, clarke and katich really swung back momentum to the aussies, personally i reckon they shoulda been in the team ages ago! especially katich, that guy is all class!

A Canadian cricket fan ....or are you an Indian living there?
I'm an Indian in Canada. And a Canadian cricket fan. :D
The matches are too expensive to watch here on pay per view. They're like 50 bucks for the one-days. I have no clue how much it is for the tests.
^ have u tried watching over the internet? i did it for the pakistan series and it was pretty good!

He's not playing, but the Indians have done well so far anyway.
A big collapse by the Aussies, ending up with 235 and the Indians are 1-28. Kumble was great, taking 7 wickets...and Warne took one to equal the world record again. :D
^ warney's got the record now, with murali out it looks like a whole before murali will claim it again

India all out now, Warne finished with 6 wickets. :D
yeh, sehwag's innings was quite an innings!
as for warney, definately didn;t bowl enough to get 6, but if u drop them catches other bowlers then i guess u can always pick up the wickets later!
poor kaif, dehydrated! i'm so angry at gilly for not wanting to allow him a runner! what a shit guy thing to do!!! expecially after all the walking business they've been doing!!!!
what kind of weirdo is your friend aks? He has spammed nearly every topic about this girl.....he must be so desperate.

its his birthday.....couldn't he find something better to do than spam this forum?
Now that he's a year older maybe he'll be a little bit more mature. :?
Now, my friends...anyone who thinks that india shall win is strongly deluded for the following reasons
1. laxman and dravid out of form - move ur feet fellas
2. nagpur and mumbai two pitches/grounds suited to us (AUS)
3. the extended break b/w 2nd and 3rd tests
4. lehmann, hayden still havent scored/batted well
5. gillespie and mcgrath
sorry aks but its gonna be like 3-0...doesnt matter u only have to go to school with me for another yr...

nice to hear that u think id be good for the forum...
for all those unable to watch the cricket, i may have ur answer, and i stress may!!
here is a link i have which is of a streaming indian channel which i am lead to believe shows the cricket live, now whether it is highlights or the live feed i am not sure but i guess it's worth a try, jus haven't had a chance as the match isn't till tuesday.
but here's the link anyway, it seems to be news all the time but hopefully it will be a live feed of the cricket

Dont worry Indians are always good hosts. We never like our guests to go back home disappointed w/o any gifts. This is a small Divali & Eid gift from us Indians to the Aussies. Enjoy guys. Its a great game Cricket
Im really disappointed abt the fact that Sachin Didnt perform well in this match. Next time may be...Bombay waits for him!!
finally back on JW after about a week of not being able to go on the net, and am watching the cricket
India 104 all out, Aus 86/3
man oh man, wat a shit series this has been for any india fan
i can only pray we win this last test for some pride to be saved
if u ask me, it's all the BCCI's fault, richest yet most corrupt cricket board in the world i reckon, those motherfuckers! :x

Its looking good....a 3-0 series win would be a great accomplishment on the subcontinent. :D
I read in the paper that some people say the Aussies only won because Waugh is no longer captain....a bit harsh IMO considering he is the most successful captain ever (by winning %).
well personally i do sort of agree with that, as his style was too aggressive for indian conditions, but in reality the quality of the players this time round and the amount of preparation done is what has won the series for the Aussies
if only India could learn from Aus and realise what it takes to truly be a world-class team :(
congratulations to all the Aussies on the series win tho!
India won a test!! YAY!!!
some face has been saved! something to get our confidence back before the South African series

That was a joke of a match, what a shitty wicket.
I was shocked to pick up the paper this morning and read the match was alreay over. Clarke did well with the ball (6/9) to go with his great batting throughout the series. :)
It was a good series though, congrats to the Indians on this victory.
Can't agree more...there should be an enquiry into that pitch...for 40 wickets to fall in two days is an absolute joke. The Indians should take a look at themselves and maybe should spend some money in hiring good curators...if uve gotta serve up a pitch like that to win...then u should be playing with zimbabwe and kenya...India u suck....and all ex-pat indians (aks) who live in australia and yet still go for india, even when they are really honkongese neways suck doubly

This topic is slightly outdated. Yeah, the wicket was pretty bad.
Didn't Goyal get banned?
@ dingo22: yeh, clarke did bloody well, unlucky not to get man of the series
@ giri: well giri, at least i go for my true country. and it was 38 wickets falling in 2 days, not 40
@ Mattk: yeh, goyal did get banned
i know everyone says the wicket was bad (no doubting it was) but i would just like to verify that the batsmen made it look a lot worse than it was, and that's why 38 wickets fell in 2 days. the way the australians batted in the 2nd innings was appauling and showed that they really don't have as much intensity when it comes to dead rubbers, a shame for such a great team. as for the indians, looks like a lot of batting practice is needed, personally i feel that the indian coach has done his job and his time has now come to move on

I think your right Aks generally the Australians, when they arnt playing for anything loose their intensity. Im from Adelaide Australia by the way. How about Michael Clarke though he's gonna be a super star.

michael clarke is definately set for life. first match he gets to bat and he gets a century, first match he is given the ball and he gets 6/9!!!! better figures than all but 2 of the current indian bowlers
i think the secret to his success is his smart cricketing mind (and his Indian coach  ) because he always seems to be thinking of something in his head before he does anything, easily the best choice for future captain of Australia - at least he won't be as arrogant as Ponting

Your right, the first thing i noticed about him especially when he made his centrury was he had a good cricket brain on him. At times he is still rash, but that is only because he is young. He plays like he has had so much expirience and like hes playing he's 50th test. It took ponting some time to settle down but i think clarke is already settling and showing some good leadership skills. who knows maybe one day a future captin? what do you think?
