Alright guys it is car buying time and I want to make a good decision. I can't go above the $32,000 mark and I don't want FF, a Honda, or nothing more than 12 years old.
Here are the ones I was thinking about:
RX-8
Mitsu Evo
Subi STI
350Z
G35 coupe
RX-7 (3rd gen)
I am open to many other ideas. Any opinions would be appreciated. :D

Yea the MR looks really nice and the performance is awesome. That is one of my top picks right now for sure.

Well of course I want a sporty car with good handling and some good pick up. I also like the AWD that the 2 rally cars have. Looks is not that important because I like how all of those look. I am just wondering which is the best for the money when it comes to handling and performance, etc.
Best performance for the money--I would drive what ever feels the best--check out a '93-'94 Viper I have seen some nice ones go for $30,000 with low miles.

Are you serious? the insurance and upkeep on that car would be a bit much especially for an 18 year old male.
If you want AWD and versatility with 4 doors and 4 passangers along with trunk space get the EVO unless you want a car that litteraly begs for attention and doesn't even havea radio standard.
If you want a Small Sports car I would go for a G35
Personally I think the Rotary cars aren't all they are made out to be.

Many more choices available to you than that. What about a Z06? you'll not get much more 'pick up' than that for $32000 lol
What about a 993? or an M3?
The advantage with the japanese cars you've mentioned though is that you will get brand new, or nearly new with remaining years warranty. On the flip side you will lose a lot in depreciation.

Yes I am serious, mit5005 never said insurance was a factor. If you want something hot you might as well go all out; if you want to play you gotta pay.

I would go with the STI. It is practical and really fun. Very fast too.

From the cars listed i think the Lancer Evo is the best one, but i would also consider the very competent WRX.

yea im think the same
i think the viper is a great car, and is better than you have in the list
but really exist a viper for this price?? 30?

Except there are many cars that will run rings around the 93-94 viper for its age and price.
Hands down the hardest hitter in this price range (as suggested by TA2001) is a 2001 Z06. (some '02's are also getting to the low $30'Ks)
This is of course only important if performance is the number 1 criteria.
The needs of winter driving, 4 doors and 4 passenger space would require you look elsewhere.
So - how serious are you about going, stopping and turning at super car levels....? ;)

It'd have to be the 350Z for me. Great looks, good engine and good chassis.

You just answered your own question
-> Evo 8

Evolution VIII MR if possible. If not, I will take the RX8 because of the pure driving pleasure... I think your driving techniques will improve if you drive a RX 8

Well I think the 2 top cars that I will choose between are the EVO and the RX-7. I have wanted an RX-7 for a while now because I am fascinated with the body lines and the performance potential. They are also very rare in my area so the exclusiveness would be a plus. But of course, there is the EVO MR. The ZO6 matching performance and the cheap price for the bang really turn me on and it is also a new car with warranty, etc. This is a tough decision.

I've read / heard / seen (on JW TG) that the Evo is better than the STi.
Rotary engines can be a real PITA - if you buy an RX7 get a good warranty
RX8 I've heard is potentially much more reliable (something to do with the tips of the triangles on the rotor being made of a more durable material now)

Well the RX7 isn't made anymore so I can't get warranty on it. And the new Renesis engine in the RX8 is more reliable also because the exhaust port is on the side of the housing like the intake port, unlike before when it was on the outside which caused a lot of overlap for fuel to be wasted.
if ur thinkin between the evo and rx-7, then go for the evo
u'll get warranty, unused car, and a lot of fun, plus u said u like AWD

I've got one that you NEED to check out that noone else mentioned.
Pontiac GTO... the new one... '04 or '05. This is really a great car, the interior is top notch, has a great tranny, and the styling, while a little on the bland side looks a lot better and person and is actually very impressive. You can pick up an '04 for around 27-28 grand, and a new '05 for around 33K. '04's have the LS1 and the '05s are gonna get the new LS2 with 400HP (new corvette engine.) I've driven an '04, and I'm now obsessed, I'm saving up for one right now. And the engine sounds are amazing, this car could be slower than a civic and I'd still buy it just for the sound :D
RX-8... driven 2 of these, really fun car, high-revving excitement. nice interior, but kinda slower than all the others. Still a great car though.
Those are my top two, the rally cars aren't to my taste, even though they're monsters, and the 350-Z is a pile of trash, period. G35 is a nice car, drove one the other week, but it's not quite as fast as others and is really not as much fun.
So, there's my thought's, go for a new Goat (GTO) or the RX-8!!!

I was actually considering the GTO. I had no idea that the new one was gettin the LS2 engine from the new Vette. I am going to test drive that tomorrow.

I'd go for the Evo. My friend has it and it's totally amazing~ :-)

Just remember the '05s with the LS2 aren't out yet, so you'll be driving the '04 with a 350 HP LS1. Still amazing with that engine though, enjoy!

Well here is an update: I just came back from car searching, I stopped by Mazda, Subaru, and Dodge. I really only went to Dodge so my friend could check out the SRT-4, which was actually pretty nice. But anyways, I only got to drive the RX-8 because the guy at Subaru said we couldn't test it. I also thought it was bs that it was 36 g's, just because of a "market adjustment fee." They brought the price up 3 grand just because they only had one of them. But I did get to drive something and the RX-8 was very nice IMO. The interior is nice (I drove a black one with with two-tone red and black leather), I love the 6-speed short shifter, and I also like the the noise from the Renesis Rotary engine. Of course the only problem was the lack of power. Don't get me wrong, it is pretty quick, but not in comparison to the other cars in this price range. Next I am going to try and drive the Evo, 350z, GTO, and maybe even an S2000. More updates to come later... :)
