...some Porsche ppl from the EZW were present when Piech and Pischetsrieder met to a secret test drive with the 16.4 at VW test track Ehra-Lessien, the german equivalent to Nardo, Pischetsrieder managed 380kmh, Piech was a bit faster but couldn´t manage 390 - main limiting factor now isn´t aerodynamics any more, but fuel pumps for the 1100 horses...
0-100 with the reworked tranny from Ricardo should be 3sec flat, of course with the longer first gear...
that project will be interesting to watch...

They've sorted out the cooling then?
No doubt it'll be fast but i wonder how well it will really handle with lots of weight with the 4wd and big engine.... guess we'll find out sometime ;)
funny how its got nearly twice the HP of the F1 and might only just break its top speed record if at all

I read too that they had problems with fuel pumps. Whatever people can say, i find this project interesting and hope to see the result soon :P

I don't especially like the car and I don't think it will be a "good handling" car either. I do however have a huge respect for the engineers and people who are working on the project who constantly are trying to solve the problems involved with making a 1000+ Bhp, 4WD Bugatti come to life. :D

i like the looks, hate the price. im sure since they can only make 50 per yr they wont have a hard time finding buyers...but i hope its reliable. i dont want it to take the road car top speed record from the mclaren tho...leave that one up to the koenigsegg CCR! :D

I;m not taking this prospect seiouslt as I've learnt not to believe the Bugatti folks :D Changing the release date..it's happened a few times before, may happen again. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed :D

So much has been said about this car that even though it´s not my type of car, I´m really corious to see how good it really is. The pulling power must be super incredible but I´m not so sure about the handling. :?:

I'm surprised that fuel pumps are the limiting factor. There are people in the RX7 community making more than 1000rwhp with 3 and 4 rotors using off the shelf fuel pumps (granted typically with multiple pumps). St-anger, do you have any details?

...it´s not because of the 1100hp....it´s about the 406kmh...
the car couldn´t go faster than ~390 because the fuel pumps couldn´t deliver more fuel to drive even faster, so 400+

I already saw it many times (Geneva auto show, frankfurt and the schlumpf museum in Mulhouse, not far from the factory at Molsheim - a friend of mine managed to take a seat in the car  ) and I don't especially like it either; but I must admit that it's a stunning car
I hope they will test more and more prototypes on the road, so I could see one

finally its gonna happen, I've been waiting so long for this car. I dont really care if it sets the new topspeed record, the big thing is efficiently getting 1000 bhp out of a reliable street car, that's just magnificent engineering.

Not a big fan of it, but then again I am definitely the type who likes light-weight cars with N/A engines...
No matter what this car ends up as, I will still prefer the McLaren...light weight always beats heaviness, N/A is better than turbo, and the F1 looks much better as well. :D
Still, you have to hand it to VW, they haven't quit despite all of the set-backs they have encountered, so good for them.

wow, is amazing, 1100 hp, 7 speeds

Autoweek states that the top speed has been lowered to 230 MPH due to stability and tire troubles. Scroll down about 5 paragraphs. http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=100910

Latest issue of autoweek states that the top speed has been lowered to 230mph because of stability and tire concerns. Guess they aren't shooting for mf1 after all?

But this would be MAYOR fallback :!: Remember the main figures have always been the 1000+ hp and the 406km/h top speed  At a price of 1million it would be poor if it couldn´t at least beat the F1. 230mph is simply too slow for this car ( )...

Hmmm, that is a big let down and as i said before, it proves how amazing the mclaren really is when its got nearly half as much hp.....
Although with all that power, the amazing dual clutch box and over 900 ftlbs of torque that will be some kick.....
And the styling is fairly insane, that will be some sight on the road.
Overpriced for what it is though, handling will be a concern with all that weight but i guess we'll soon find out ;)

No, the big let down is that there are still people out there who think this car will ever see the light of day.

lol, at least its more likely that it'll be released some time than the whole project actually breaking even
